New Energy Storage Power Station is being developed in Shandong Province. On May 25, 2025, the new energy storage project was initiated at the Shangdong Electric Power Station.
This energy storage power station utilizes advanced lithium-ion battery technology, with a total area of approximately 50 acres and an investment exceeding 4.6 billion yuan. The station is designed to manage a maximum output of 160 megawatts of electricity, with a round-the-clock capacity utilization rate reaching 98%. It is expected to provide power to more than 30 wind and solar energy projects.
The energy storage system will adopt a flexible operation model, capable of rapid charging and discharging, which allows it to adjust output based on real-time demand.
The storage power station will also support a variety of operational modes to maximize efficiency and response speed, achieving an operational cycle life exceeding 2000 cycles. The efficiency of lithium-ion batteries is significantly higher compared to traditional lead-acid batteries.
According to the People’s Daily, the establishment of this new energy storage project is part of the country’s broader strategy to enhance energy security and promote sustainable energy consumption.
This project not only aims to improve the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid but also to facilitate the transition to a greener energy system, which is crucial for addressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions.
