New Hydropower Project in Luanhe River to Boost Renewable Energy Supply in Qinghai Province

New

On September 27, 2023, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) announced the launch of the Jiangsu Huai’an Integrated Photovoltaic Power Generation Project, which consists of 100 MW of solar energy capacity. This project is designed to support the local energy needs and enhance green energy supply in the region.

The project, which is a collaboration between the SGCC and the Huai’an government, aims to utilize renewable energy to address electricity shortages and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions. The solar facility is expected to provide approximately 62.8 million kWh of clean electricity annually, which will significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 18.87 million kg and sulfur dioxide emissions by approximately 702.46 tons.

Moreover, this initiative will incorporate advanced “deep integration” technologies to minimize land degradation and enhance energy efficiency, achieving a reduction in land disturbance by up to 45%. It is estimated that the project will reduce carbon emissions from electricity generation by around 30%.

The completion of this project is expected to address the increasing energy demand in Huai’an and will play a vital role in promoting the local economy as well as contributing to the global shift towards sustainable energy sources.
