China’s State Power Investment Corporation has successfully conducted a trial operation of a large-scale lithium-ion battery energy storage system. This system is capable of recycling over 300,000 cycles and is expected to significantly reduce the output of carbon emissions associated with electricity generation. The official deployment date is set for September 26, 2025, at 07:55 AM, according to a report from Nan News.

Recently, the State Power Investment Corporation completed its large-capacity lithium-ion battery energy storage system, which is undergoing network commissioning tests. This marks a critical step towards the commercialization of lithium-ion battery technology in new energy applications. The system utilizes the NF155L lithium-ion battery, known for its high safety standards, wide operating temperature range, and long service life.

The lithium-ion battery is designed for over 300,000 cycles of use and operates efficiently in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C. It meets the energy storage demands of the electricity supply sector, particularly in regions where power generation is concentrated. The extended lifespan and advanced technology of this battery system also result in a reduced carbon footprint compared to similar technologies, with a decrease of over 42% in emissions.

Furthermore, the system is designed to generate minimal waste gas under extreme conditions, contributing to a cleaner environment. The State Power Investment Corporation asserts that this new energy storage technology is a significant leap forward in energy applications and is expected to play a crucial role in large-scale energy storage and distribution.

The operation manager indicated that this large lithium-ion battery energy storage system integrates 100% self-produced core components and can be directly connected to suitable energy storage systems, enhancing efficiency and production capacity.

In comparison to traditional lithium-ion batteries, the newly developed battery shows superior performance in terms of resource availability and adaptability, paving the way for widespread applications in large-scale energy storage.
