According to the latest report from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, the price of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in September 2025 is projected to be around 158,000 RMB, reflecting a decrease of approximately 8% compared to the same period last year.

This data was released on October 20, 2025, by 199IT, a leading financial technology application. The report indicates that the average price of NEVs in China will reach 160,000 RMB, marking a significant drop from the 172,000 RMB recorded during the same month last year.

In terms of market distribution, vehicles priced below 150,000 RMB will continue to dominate the market, accounting for a substantial portion of sales. Notably, sales of vehicles priced under 80,000 RMB are expected to reach 1.028 million, representing a remarkable year-over-year increase of 79.7%. Similarly, sales in the 80,000 to 100,000 RMB range are projected to reach 1.013 million, reflecting a 96.5% increase compared to last year.

As for vehicles priced between 100,000 to 150,000 RMB, the segment is anticipated to see a sales volume of 2.351 million, which is 77.5% higher than the previous year. Meanwhile, the high-end market is also expected to experience growth, with sales of vehicles priced above 300,000 RMB predicted to decline by 18.3% in the 30,000 to 35,000 RMB segment and by 8.8% in the 35,000 to 40,000 RMB segment.

As electric vehicles continue to gain traction, their prices are becoming more competitive compared to traditional fuel vehicles. For example, the popular MINIEV electric vehicle is expected to maintain a price point around 50,000 RMB, while models like the Xiao P and KUP are also seeing increased demand in the 100,000 RMB price category.

In summary, the NEV market in China is projected to experience a significant shift, with prices decreasing and sales volumes rising. This trend indicates a growing acceptance of NEVs within the consumer market, particularly as they become more affordable compared to their fuel-powered counterparts.
