April 24, 2025 – The latest report on the new energy vehicle market has revealed significant trends and data. The report indicates a remarkable increase in the sales of electric vehicles, with the overall demand for new energy vehicles experiencing a robust growth of approximately 50.4% and 47.1% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. The sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 41.2% of total vehicle sales. Specifically, pure electric vehicles saw a growth of 47.7%, while plug-in hybrid vehicles experienced a rise of 46.1%.

Looking ahead, analysts project that the annual growth rate for the new energy vehicle market will stabilize around 20% from 2024 to 2029, with an expected market size of approximately 2.9 million vehicles by 2029. The primary players in the market will likely include manufacturers of plug-in hybrid vehicles, maintenance services, electric battery production, and others.

During a recent visit to a local dealership, a customer remarked, “Most of the vehicles I see on the road are electric. I just traded my traditional vehicle for an electric one, and it feels great!” This sentiment reflects the growing popularity and acceptance of electric vehicles among consumers. According to data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, from January 1 to April 13 of this year, new energy vehicle registrations reached 27.5 million, marking a 15% increase year-on-year. The proportion of new energy vehicles surged to 53.3%.

“The intelligence of new energy vehicles is improving, and the speed of replacement is accelerating. Customers, especially younger ones, are particularly keen on electric vehicles,” stated an industry representative. As the new energy vehicle market evolves, it is expected that by the end of 2024, the country will see registrations of 112.85 million new energy vehicles, representing a 47.9% increase.

Despite the promising growth in the new energy vehicle sector, challenges remain. The current market is still characterized by a significant presence of traditional fuel vehicles. As of April 19, the total number of new energy vehicles registered in China was 52,371, with only 12,420 being new energy vehicles, accounting for approximately 23.7%.

As the market continues to expand, the push towards electric vehicles remains strong. By 2025, projections suggest that the market for new energy vehicles will achieve a cumulative sales figure of 285.25 million, representing a 1.3% increase compared to the previous year. This reflects a growing trend towards cleaner energy solutions and sustainable transportation.

For those interested in the details of the new energy vehicle market, the report indicates that the growth of electric vehicles is expected to continue, with a focus on enhancing battery technology and infrastructure to support the increasing demand.
