On April 21, 2025, the National Energy Group convened its first quarter work meeting and a mobilization conference focused on enhancing quality and efficiency. This meeting was guided by Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and aimed to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee. The conference also sought to put into practice the directives from the Central Economic Work Conference and the National Two Sessions, while summarizing the group’s performance, analyzing the current situation, and outlining key tasks for the second quarter and beyond.
The meeting was chaired by <b>Zou Lei</b>, the Party Secretary and Chairman of the Group, and attended by <b>Feng Laifa</b>, the Deputy Party Secretary, along with other senior leaders including <b>Fu Zhenbang</b>, <b>Yang Peng</b>, <b>Xu Xinfeng</b>, <b>Wang Yimin</b>, and <b>Yan Guochun</b>.
During the meeting, the group recognized the positive outcomes achieved in the first quarter regarding operational stability and development promotion. Since the beginning of the year, the group has adhered to the principles of <b>"seeking progress while maintaining stability, prioritizing safety, leading with innovation, and pursuing high-quality development"</b>. They have taken responsibility for rectifying issues identified in central inspections and have tackled challenges to maintain production and operations. The focus has remained on core responsibilities, with an emphasis on steady investment and development aligned with high-quality standards. The group has strengthened systemic governance to mitigate major risks and has upheld strict party discipline, laying a solid foundation for achieving the goals set for the first half and the entire year.
The meeting highlighted that 2025 is a crucial year for further deepening reforms, concluding the 14th Five-Year Plan, and setting the stage for the 15th Five-Year Plan. All departments and units must deeply understand the new circumstances and requirements facing production, operation, and reform. They should accurately assess the evolving domestic and international macroeconomic landscape and recognize the challenges and opportunities within the energy sector. Moreover, they need to evaluate the group's strengths and weaknesses in reform and development, manage the intricate relationships between various factors, and strive to break free from dependency on traditional energy sources. This includes refining the company’s mission, vision, and development strategy, reshaping the internal logic of value creation, and transitioning from scale advantages to quality improvements, thereby establishing a sustainable ecosystem that supports the company's long-term development and national energy security.
The meeting stressed the need for the group to focus on green transformation and sustainable development in the second quarter. Key tasks include:
