Nandu Power Unveils Center L Ultra 6.25MWh Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage System at International Summit

Nandu

On April 10, during the 13th International Energy Storage Summit and Exhibition, Nandu Power unveiled its new Center L Ultra 6.25MWh integrated liquid-cooling energy storage system, showcasing its technological prowess in the energy storage sector. The Nandu Center L Ultra 6.25MWh energy storage system is equipped with a self-developed 783Ah large-capacity storage battery and features a “DC-AC integrated” design, achieving a capacity of 6.25MWh within a standard 20-foot container. This system is suitable for energy storage scenarios ranging from 2 to 8 hours.

Cluster Management and Whole-Link Balancing
The Center L Ultra energy storage system integrates the Battery Management Unit (BCU) with the Power Conversion System (PCS) into a single cabinet, facilitating cluster management and independent operation. This design addresses the issue of parallel capacity loss caused by inter-cluster circulation imbalance. The active balancing across the entire system enables quicker energy transfer, minimizing energy loss during the process, and ensures rapid and effective balancing of each battery cell. The system’s discharge capacity is increased by 8% over its lifecycle. Notably, compared to traditional cluster-level fault isolation, this system allows for the rapid isolation of individual faulty packs, significantly enhancing the capacity and online availability of the power station. Fault loss can be reduced from 16.7% to just 2.1% with PACK-level isolation.

Chip-Level Simplified Integration and Domain Coordination
Building on the high integration of BCU and PCS, the Center L Ultra energy storage system introduces an innovative “chip-level simplified integration” technology. This technology deeply integrates the core control chip and achieves “single-brain control” through a cabin-level coordinated controller, relying on a CAN bus for efficient communication among internal modules, thereby forming a multidimensional coordinated management system. This design reduces communication time at the cluster level by 80%, avoids execution conflicts, alleviates upper-layer logical computation pressure, and enhances the system’s response speed and stability.

Dual Cooling Modes for Enhanced Efficiency
The PACK and PCS each have their own independent liquid cooling management system, allowing for effective temperature control and enhancing the system’s adaptability to wide temperature ranges over extended periods. Utilizing both compressor cooling and natural cooling modes, the system can intelligently switch based on environmental temperature and operating conditions, reducing auxiliary energy consumption by 30%. The self-regulating intelligent temperature control system ensures that the temperature difference across the Center L Ultra system is less than 2.5°C, effectively extending the system’s lifespan and ensuring returns throughout the project lifecycle.

Large-Capacity Dedicated Battery for Sustained Power Supply
The Center L Ultra energy storage system features Nandu’s self-developed 783Ah dedicated energy storage battery. This battery boasts an energy density greater than 430Wh/L, a cycle life of up to 15,000 cycles, and a single energy capacity exceeding 2.5 kWh, with an energy efficiency of over 95%. To address the challenges of long cycles, the 783Ah battery employs Nandu’s low lithium consumption artificial graphite technology. By controlling the spacing and orientation of graphite layers, it reduces volumetric changes during lithium de-intercalation, with negative electrode expansion limited to 20% at full charge, thereby enhancing anode structure stability. Additionally, high-temperature stable electrolyte is used to suppress side reactions at elevated temperatures, creating a self-repairing interface on the anode and promoting uniform lithium ion distribution for long cycle life. Furthermore, the Center L Ultra energy storage system innovatively offers a dual-battery compatibility solution, allowing it to accommodate both 783Ah and 587Ah storage batteries. This flexible configuration enables the construction of a total capacity of 6.25MWh within a 20-foot energy storage system, providing an optimal solution that balances economy and performance for various application scenarios.

Multi-Physical Field Early Warning Technology for Enhanced Safety
Safety has always been a core design principle for Nandu Power’s energy storage systems. The “3+4+5” safety framework includes three levels of safety—body safety, management safety, and system safety; four layers of safety design—chemical, mechanical, electrical, and functional; and five safety protections—monitoring, early warning, isolation, protection, and firefighting. To ensure the intrinsic safety of the batteries, the SNS low heat generation technology ensures that, even with an energy increase of 180% compared to a 280Ah battery, the temperature rise during 0.5P charge and discharge remains below 4°C. At the module level, the Center L Ultra employs a thermally isolated structural design, with each component independently housed to prevent safety incidents due to electronic device short circuits. The high-performance nano insulation pads between battery cells enhance thermal insulation performance. At the system level, advanced data fusion analysis and multi-physical field coupling model technology enable the system to detect thermal runaway risks up to 24 hours in advance. Coupled with precise positioning and a rapid firefighting mechanism, the safety and stability of power station operations are significantly improved.

Immediate Grid Connection and Rapid Delivery
Thanks to comprehensive in-house development of key equipment, the Center L Ultra energy storage system undergoes pre-installation and commissioning before leaving the factory, eliminating the need for on-site PCS installation, DC wiring, communication debugging, and charge/discharge testing. This results in efficient delivery, allowing for immediate grid connection upon arrival, and reduces delivery times by more than 50%. The system features IP55/C5 protection, a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 55°C, and an 8-grade seismic rating, along with low-noise operation below 65dBA, making it suitable for extreme environments such as coastal, desert, and mountainous areas. The high integration of BCU and PCS, combined with a shoulder-to-shoulder and back-to-back layout design, reduces the overall footprint of the station by 65%. Additionally, the system incorporates an AI smart management platform that can monitor the operational status of the energy storage system in real time. Through OTA (Over-The-Air) technology, users can remotely upgrade the software, enabling a quick response to needs.

The Nandu Power Center L Ultra 6.25MWh integrated liquid-cooling energy storage system is scheduled for global delivery in September 2025.
