During his presentation, Dr. Song emphasized that among the three N-type technology routes currently available, TOPCon offers the highest overall cost-performance ratio and the lowest production costs. CPIA predicts that by 2030, the market share will stabilize around 60%, indicating a long lifecycle for TOPCon technology.

The five core technologies, which include new structures, mechanisms, processes, materials, and principles, have increased battery efficiency to 27%, while the UVID120 degradation rate is below 0.8%, further enhancing reliability.
- New Structure: Forms micron-level “light traps” on the back of the battery, improving infrared light absorption efficiency by 0.3%-0.5%.
- New Mechanism: Creates nano-scale contact points through laser-induced processes, reducing contact resistance to below 0.5 mΩ·cm².
- New Process: Utilizes innovative paste and steel plate printing technology to enhance the utilization of incident photons, increasing the fill factor to over 85%.
- New Materials: Employs a unique organic/inorganic hybrid passivation material to reduce edge recombination losses and improve battery efficiency.
- New Principle: Applies coupling passivation principles through atomic layer deposition technology, enhancing the UV resistance of hydrogen-silicon bonds by an order of magnitude, with a degradation rate below 0.8% under UVID120 aging tests.
TOPCon Exhibits the Highest Comprehensive Power Generation
In May 2025, the National Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Demonstration Experiment Platform (Daqing Base) released the power generation data for various types of components for 2024. The report indicated that “the power generation trend for 2024 is consistent with previous years, with TOPCon components achieving the highest power generation. From 2022 to 2024, the average power generation of TOPCon was 2.02% higher than PERC and 1.43% higher than IBC components.”
Dr. Song believes that the core of photovoltaic technology application lies in its power generation capability. The National Daqing Base is the most authoritative photovoltaic technology demonstration base in China, capable of eliminating errors in power generation data caused by external environmental factors due to its scale, data collection precision, and the duration of the experiments, ensuring data accuracy and authority. The essence of photovoltaics is clean energy, which will replace traditional fossil fuels.
