Morrow and SEEL Partner to Advance LNMO Battery Cell Technology under IPCEI
==========================================================================

(Grimstad, 2 July 2025) Morrow Technologies AS (“Morrow”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Morrow Batteries ASA, has entered into a strategic partnership with SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory AB. This collaboration aims to expedite the development of lithium-nickel-manganese-oxide (LNMO) battery cells. As part of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) initiative, this partnership is designed to bolster Europe’s battery technology and infrastructure.

Jon Fold von Bülow, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Morrow, stated, “Collaborating with SEEL allows us to move faster and provide enhanced battery solutions. This is a tangible step towards creating a stronger and more competitive European battery industry.”

The focus of this partnership will be on designing and validating advanced accelerated aging protocols for LNMO battery cells. These protocols are expected to facilitate quicker and more precise predictions regarding battery lifespan and performance in real-world scenarios, thereby aiding the commercialization of next-generation batteries for electric mobility and energy storage. By merging Morrow’s expertise in cell development with SEEL’s cutting-edge testing capabilities, the project is poised to reduce development cycles and yield safer, more reliable battery solutions.

Ankit Singh, R&D Manager at Morrow, remarked, “This agreement represents a crucial step in expediting the commercialization of next-generation LNMO batteries. Our collaborative efforts will enhance our technical capabilities and contribute to a more competitive European battery value chain.”

Dr. Martin G. H. Gustavsson, Research Director at SEEL, added, “By leveraging SEEL’s advanced test facilities alongside Morrow’s innovative work on LNMO chemistry, we are confident in our ability to set new benchmarks for battery reliability and sustainability.”

The R&D collaboration is supported by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Lars Fast, a researcher at RISE, commented, “The close collaboration between RISE, SEEL, and Morrow is expected to accelerate the development of validation methods for products through advanced testing.”
