Mekamand Unveils Headquarters in Xiong’an New Area as AI and Robotics Merge Rapidly

AI and Robotics are rapidly merging, and the headquarters of the unicorn company Mech-Mand has officially been unveiled in the Xiong’an New Area.

On November 28, at the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in the Xiong’an New Area, a demonstration was held featuring a robot responding to voice commands. Visitors watched in amazement as the robot followed instructions like, “Little De, please put the fruit on the table into the yellow box.” The robot efficiently identified various types of fruit, such as avocados, bananas, and kiwis, and placed them into the designated yellow box with remarkable precision.

During the open day event hosted by Mech-Mand, the exhibition hall was bustling with guests. The Mech-GPT multimodal model showcased the robot’s ability to accurately grasp items based on voice commands. Founder and CEO Shiao Tianlan explained that this self-developed model enables robots to comprehend voice commands while integrating visual and diagrammatic information for reasoning and decision-making in complex scenarios. He emphasized that high-performance 3D cameras and AI industrial software equip the robots with sharp “eyes” and intelligent “brains,” allowing them to quickly perceive and understand their environment, accurately identify objects, and efficiently plan and execute tasks.

Mech-Mand stands as one of the largest unicorn companies in the global AI and robotics sector, with operations spanning 50 countries and regions, including Germany, Japan, the United States, and South Korea. Their intelligent robotic equipment, nearly 15,000 units deployed in smart factories worldwide, finds applications in various fields such as automotive, logistics, heavy industry, and renewable energy, handling tasks like product picking, de-stacking, loading, assembly positioning, and high-precision measurement with ease.

On the afternoon of November 28, the 2024 Xiong’an New Area AI and Robotics Innovation Ecosystem Development Conference took place, during which the Mech-Mand headquarters was officially inaugurated.

Shiao Tianlan elaborated on the decision to establish their headquarters in Xiong’an New Area, highlighting the advantageous national policy support and its strategic location within the Beijing-Tianjin-Baoding metropolitan area, which boasts excellent transportation links including airports, highways, and high-speed rail. The administrative committee of Xiong’an New Area, along with the China Xiong’an Group and the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in Xiong’an, have provided substantial support and services to facilitate capital acquisition and the establishment of office spaces and research laboratories.

Moreover, the vibrant atmosphere of innovation in Xiong’an was a significant factor for the Mech-Mand team. Shiao noted that Xiong’an fosters a friendly environment for young entrepreneurs and has attractive policies for talent in AI and robotics that appeal to Mech-Mand’s vision.

As a major industrial hub, Hebei Province hosts several partners for Mech-Mand, including Great Wall Motors and Hebei Steel Group, with plans to expand their network further in the region.

Currently, the Mech-Mand headquarters in Xiong’an is equipped for operations, with full-scale functionality expected to commence next month, gradually integrating production, small-scale trials, and research and development roles.

“Establishing our headquarters in Xiong’an marks a new beginning,” Shiao expressed. “We have progressed from 0 to 1, and from 1 to 10; now we aspire to leap from 10 to 100, or even 10,000. Mech-Mand aims to extend technological boundaries, focus on research and production, and continuously enhance the Mech-GPT multimodal model to make our robots smarter, explore new application scenarios, and realize practical implementations.” Shiao is filled with optimism and confidence for the future.
