Madhya Pradesh’s Renewable Energy Sector: A Prime Investment Opportunity
Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, extended an invitation to private investors to explore opportunities in the state’s renewable energy sector, emphasizing its significant potential in contributing to India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of power from non-fossil sources by 2030. During the ‘Renewed Madhya Pradesh’ event, part of the MP Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025, Yadav underscored the state’s pivotal role in this initiative.
He stated, “Renewable energy represents a vast market, and the Madhya Pradesh government is eager to partner with you on this journey.” Numerous companies in the renewable sector announced plans to invest thousands of crores in the state, with Yadav assuring that the state government would provide necessary support for the execution of these projects.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state allocates substantial funds for power subsidies, ranging from Rs 25,000 crore to Rs 26,000 crore, primarily benefiting farmers and households. In line with its commitment to promoting renewable energy, Madhya Pradesh aims to supply solar water pumps to farmers.
In a further move to foster renewable energy use, Yadav announced that the state would provide cheaper ‘green’ electricity to the Railways, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). A power purchase agreement involving the Railways, Waaree Energies, and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL) for 170 MW was finalized on the same day.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the MP Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025, which has seen over 25,000 registrations. The summit, taking place from February 24-25, 2025, is expected to host more than 100 foreign delegates from over 50 countries, including ambassadors and high commissioners. Notably, leading Indian industrialists, such as Gautam Adani, are also slated to attend.
