Over 100MW! Longi’s BC Generation 2 Module Hi-MO 9 Continues to Empower Energy Transition in Latin America

On April 27, 2025, Longi signed a cooperation agreement in Madrid, Spain. Under this agreement, Longi will supply over 100MW of BC Generation 2 modules, Hi-MO 9, for a ground-mounted power station project in Latin America. This advanced BC technology and product will significantly accelerate the region’s energy transition, serving as a powerful tool to address climate challenges.

Most of Latin America is situated in low-latitude areas with a predominantly tropical climate, characterized by ample heat and abundant rainfall throughout the year. The upgraded Hi-MO 9 module, a flagship product of the Longi Hi-MO series, boasts an impressive conversion efficiency of 24.8% and a bifacial gain of over 80%. This represents a leap of 10 percentage points compared to the previous generation; the module power has risen to 670W, enabling a 6.4% increase in installed capacity compared to TOPCon products within the same land constraints, establishing a new standard for “spatial value density.” Furthermore, this module demonstrates ultra-low degradation performance under high temperature and humidity, significantly reducing the risks of module failure and fire, thereby generating more energy and value over its entire lifecycle.

Upon completion, the project is expected to offset approximately 120,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to providing clean electricity for around 60,000 households. Both parties in this collaboration have also committed to strictly adhering to biodiversity agreements, minimizing environmental impacts, and maximizing the output of clean energy.

According to Cui Meng, President of Longi Green Energy’s Centralized European Region, “This collaboration will further highlight how Longi’s efficient and reliable BC technology drives global energy transformation. By combining photovoltaic technological innovation with cross-regional collaboration, we aim to unlock greater value from BC technology and product solutions across various countries and regions. As more BC projects are scaled up globally, BC technology will become the universal standard for ground-mounted power stations.”

As the global energy transition gains momentum, Longi is poised to accelerate deep decarbonization across more countries and regions with its valuable BC technology and products, driving greater momentum for regional energy transitions.
