Li Luming Appointed President of Tsinghua University
On December 22, 2023, it was announced that the central government has officially appointed Li Luming as the President (Vice Ministerial Level) and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University. Wang Xiqin will no longer serve as President or Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and will be assigned to another position.
In the afternoon of December 22, Tsinghua University held a faculty and staff meeting. Peng Jinhui, Deputy Minister of the Central Organization Department, attended the meeting to announce the central decision and deliver a speech. Also present were Chen Jie, Vice Minister and Party Group Member of the Ministry of Education, and You Jun, Member of the Beijing Municipal Committee, Minister of the Organization Department, and Secretary of the Education Working Committee. The meeting was chaired by Qiu Yong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University.
Attending the meeting were leaders from the Central Organization Department, the Ministry of Education, and relevant departments of Beijing, along with members of Tsinghua University’s leadership team, retired leaders, faculty representatives, department heads, and student representatives.
Biography of Li Luming: Li Luming was born in February 1968. He holds a doctorate in engineering, is a member of the Communist Party, a professor, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He previously served as the Vice President of Tsinghua University.
