Hydrogen Energy Resource Box-Type Hydrogen Production Device (HEE-500) officially launched on April 18, 2025, by North Hunan Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as “Hydrogen Energy”). The HEE-500 is a prototype hydrogen production device introduced today in the city of Wushan, Chongqing. The event was co-hosted by Hydrogen Energy, the Chinese Hydrogen Energy Association, and the Electric Power Technology Innovation Alliance.
This launch event focused on the theme of “Hydrogen Unleashes New Potential,” attracting participants from government agencies, enterprises, research institutions, and experts in the hydrogen energy sector to discuss the development of hydrogen energy production technologies. It also served as a platform to showcase the HEE-500 hydrogen production device and explore new pathways for the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
During the event, key executives from various organizations, including China National Hydrogen Energy Alliance, Hunan University, and China Hydrogen Energy Association, discussed the future of hydrogen energy development. They highlighted that the transition to renewable energy sources and the integration of hydrogen technology are crucial for achieving a sustainable energy future.
The HEE-500 hydrogen production device aims to address the current challenges in the hydrogen energy sector, notably the insufficient supply of energy resources and the slow construction of hydrogen production facilities. The price range for hydrogen production varies between 40-60 RMB/kg, and there are concerns that the high costs of hydrogen production could hinder the growth of the hydrogen energy industry.
To tackle these issues, the HEE-500 device is designed to produce high-purity hydrogen and incorporate carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies that effectively reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, the device will support mobile applications to respond swiftly to market needs.
As part of the ongoing development, the HEE-500 device will be tested in several phases, with the first phase expected to start in 2025. The testing site will focus on hydrogen production efficiency and the integration of renewable energy sources into the production process.
The HEE-500’s design emphasizes compactness and adaptability for various energy resource scenarios. It features advanced technologies for carbon capture and aims to support an environmentally friendly hydrogen production model.
Furthermore, the event included discussions on future collaborations among research institutions, universities, and companies in the hydrogen energy sector to promote innovation and technological advancements.
In conclusion, the official launch of the HEE-500 represents a significant step forward in hydrogen production technology, aligning with China’s goals for sustainable energy development. The transition towards green hydrogen production is seen as a critical pathway for future energy solutions.
