Recently, Huazhi Energy launched the largest single-unit 400V grid-connected energy storage station in Anhui Province, boasting a capacity of 10.2MW/21.318MWh. This landmark project not only demonstrates the feasibility of large-capacity low-voltage grid-connected energy storage but also sets a benchmark for energy transformation in high-consumption enterprises through innovative energy storage solutions.
Located at the production base of Chaowei Group in the Anhui Yongheng Power Technology Co., Ltd. park, the project is operated by Zhejiang Chaowei Power Co., Ltd. It consists of 68 Zhihui Energy Storage 150kW/313.5KWh liquid-cooled energy storage systems connected to the park’s distribution system via a 400V grid connection, achieving a total installed capacity of 10.2MW/21.318MWh. Utilizing the Zhihui Energy Management 24-hour active operation and maintenance center, the project provides full lifecycle operational services.
The 400V grid compatibility features an industry-first self-developed 150kW energy storage inverter that outputs at AC400V, directly matching existing distribution systems without the need for step-up transformers or long-distance wiring. This significantly reduces initial investment costs and minimizes energy losses during charging and discharging.
Furthermore, the compact design occupies only 1.3㎡ per cabinet, with an impressive energy density of 241.1kWh/㎡. This results in a 4-5 cents/Wh reduction in overall construction costs compared to common market products rated at 125kW/261kWh.
With a modular design and a front-maintenance distributed solution, the system effectively addresses land constraints within the facility and allows for easier system expansion and maintenance in the future.
The project was delivered swiftly, with the entire process from equipment shipment to formal commissioning taking less than one week. Some sites were operational in as little as three days, showcasing the team’s exceptional professionalism and collaborative efficiency.
Upon its launch, the project is expected to provide 2.7 million kWh of peak power support annually, resulting in over 1.5 million yuan in electricity savings each year. Additionally, it will effectively reduce peak electricity consumption and lower basic electricity costs through demand management. The investment payback period is estimated to be only three years. After integrating with a virtual power plant (VPP) platform, the project’s revenue will expand beyond mere peak-valley arbitrage to include diversified revenue models such as market transactions and ancillary services, thus ensuring long-term stable economic value.
As photovoltaic and energy storage technologies become more integrated, along with the maturation of virtual power plant technologies, commercial and industrial energy storage is set to create multidimensional value and drive the low-carbon transformation of businesses. The successful operation of the Chaowei Power production base project not only establishes a model for large-capacity low-voltage grid-connected energy storage on the user side but also exemplifies Huazhi Energy’s commitment to the mission of “providing free energy services to every enterprise,” injecting robust momentum into the cost reduction and efficiency enhancement of China’s real economy as well as its green and sustainable development.
