KULR and Worksport Partner on Battery Technology and U.S. Manufacturing

KULR Technology Group, a leader in advanced energy management platforms, has partnered with Worksport, an innovator in solar-integrated tonneau covers and portable energy storage. This strategic alliance is aimed at enhancing battery technology and boosting domestic manufacturing capabilities.

KULR specializes in providing energy storage solutions for sectors such as space, aerospace, and defense, underpinned by their in-house expertise in battery design, a comprehensive suite for cell and battery testing, as well as production capabilities.

Key Areas of Collaboration

The partnership will focus on three primary areas:

  1. Joint Battery Pack Development: KULR and Worksport will collaborate on the development of Worksport’s COR Battery Pack System. This project will prioritize optimizing battery management system (BMS) requirements, refining cell configurations, and enhancing overall system safety, performance, and reliability.

  2. Software (BMS + AI Integration): The companies plan to integrate AI-driven software into the BMS. This will facilitate real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and advanced data analytics, ultimately optimizing power distribution, extending battery lifespan, and enhancing safety measures.

  3. Thermal Runaway Protection: The partnership intends to incorporate KULR’s patented thermal runaway protection technology into Worksport’s battery systems, significantly improving battery safety and longevity by addressing thermal runaway risks.

Evaluating Battery Performance & Cost Efficiency

KULR will leverage its KULR One Design Solutions (K1-DS) to assess the performance, cost efficiency, and scalability of integrated battery solutions for the Worksport COR system. The first generation of Worksport Solis and COR is anticipated to launch in the latter half of 2025, and these evaluations will inform future development and innovation. The K1-DS platform employs advanced battery safety testing methodologies, including Fractional Thermal Runaway Calorimetry (FTRC), bomb calorimetry, and impingement zone mapping, ensuring comprehensive cell-level characterization and safety optimization.

Market Growth Related to Tariffs

With the increasing demand for U.S.-based production—partly driven by recent tariff policies—KULR and Worksport are actively exploring domestic manufacturing options for the COR battery pack and related products. This strategic initiative aligns with the growing market preference for American-made energy solutions and positions both companies for sustainable growth and expansion.

Conclusion

The collaboration between KULR and Worksport marks an important step in advancing battery technology and enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities. As they work together, the companies aim to deliver innovative energy solutions that meet the evolving demands of the market.
