Kehua Data: Innovative Network-type Energy Storage Empowers New Power System Construction
As the energy storage industry continues to thrive, network-type energy storage has emerged as a focal point due to its exceptional performance and vast application potential. Kehua Data, a global leader in energy storage system solutions, has leveraged its profound technical expertise and innovative spirit to provide fresh insights and directions for the industry’s development.
On April 11, during the 13th International Energy Storage Summit sub-forum, Kehua Data delivered an impressive presentation on “Exploration of Network-type Technology for Large-scale Energy Storage Stations.” The discussion delved into the current state of the industry, advancements in network-type energy storage technology, and its mission. Kehua Data highlighted its advanced liquid-cooled cluster PCS system solutions and numerous successful project practices, earning high recognition from experts and industry professionals present.
Kehua Data pointed out that with the increasing integration of clean energy into the grid, system inertia is decreasing, posing challenges to grid stability. Network-type technology enables energy storage systems to mimic the functions of synchronous generators, actively responding to and supporting grid inertia, frequency, voltage, and short-circuit current, thereby providing robust support for new power systems and effectively addressing grid adaptation issues.
Currently, network-type energy storage technology is becoming increasingly mature, with applications expanding widely and significant potential being realized. In the field of microgrid support, it can be adapted to various microgrid sizes in off-grid areas, meeting the power supply needs of special regions such as high-altitude areas and ensuring microgrid availability. In the context of grid black start capabilities, it can serve as a regional black start power source, enhancing emergency response capabilities and facilitating rapid recovery of large power grids. Additionally, it cleverly resolves stability issues in local grids, enhancing the power delivery and receiving capabilities of critical power stations, and providing solid voltage support to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply.
In the realm of network-type energy storage, Kehua Data continually pursues technological innovation and product upgrades. The latest liquid-cooled cluster PCS energy storage solution unveiled at the summit not only enhances the existing product lineup but also broadens application scenarios, propelling Kehua Data’s innovations in energy storage technology to new heights. The next-generation liquid-cooled cluster management PCS achieves ultra-high power density, reducing costs while laying the groundwork for the efficient operation of energy storage devices.
In terms of network-type performance, the new product boasts comprehensive network support capabilities, demonstrating exceptional performance. It can operate stably in complex grid environments and achieve reliable operation under three times overload conditions. With millisecond-level power response and microsecond-level voltage construction capabilities, it also features adaptive wide short-circuit ratios, multi-coordination group black start, and domain-level black start functionalities.
For heat dissipation, the new product employs fully liquid-cooled cooling and a patented new cooling plate design, akin to installing a powerful “air conditioner” on the equipment. Even in high-temperature environments of up to 50°C, the PCS can maintain stable operations without derating, significantly enhancing equipment stability and reliability. This upgrade also extends the system’s lifespan by over 25%.
Regarding structural protection, the new product features IP66+C5 corrosion-resistant composite protection and has undergone rigorous environmental testing. It can withstand various harsh conditions, including rain, snow, wind, sand, and high-corrosion environments. Moreover, the product’s adaptability is exceptionally flexible, compatible with battery cells of varying capacities, and capable of meeting both 2-hour and 4-hour storage application needs, thereby enhancing system availability.
This innovative achievement not only showcases Kehua Data’s substantial capabilities in energy storage technology but also injects new vitality into the development of network-type energy storage technology, leading the industry in its growth direction.
With 37 years of solid experience in power electronics technology and over 4,000 new energy project developments, Kehua Data holds a competitive advantage in large-scale long-duration network-type energy storage applications. Since 2007, Kehua Data has shipped over 1 GW of network-type energy storage systems. In exploring diverse regional network projects, Kehua Data has consistently expanded its application fields, leaving its mark in various operational scenarios from microgrid practices to strong overload black starts, from islands and remote areas to weak and strong grids in new energy regions.
In 2024, Kehua Data became the first company in China to pass the full network verification tests conducted by the China Electric Power Research Institute, marking its leading position in the industry for network-type energy storage technology. In 2025, it delivered a 300 MW/1200 MWh network-type energy storage project in Xinjiang’s Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture and a high-altitude independent network-type 60 MW/300 MWh energy storage project in Tibet, providing full-capacity network-type energy storage system solutions and setting benchmarks for GWh-level network-type energy storage and ultra-high-altitude energy storage stations.
As a pioneering force in the field of network-type energy storage, Kehua Data has made significant contributions to the stable operation of power grids and the widespread application of clean energy through its outstanding technical strengths and rich practical experience. Looking ahead, Kehua Data will continue to forge ahead in the energy transition journey, persistently exploring and innovating to contribute more to the safe and sustainable development of the energy storage industry, leading the sector to new heights.
