**Kalmar Introduces Next-Generation Lithium-Ion Battery Technology for Electric Counterbalanced Equipment**

Kalmar has unveiled its second-generation lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery solution designed for its range of electrically powered counterbalanced equipment, including reachstackers, empty container handlers, and forklifts. This new battery system boasts enhanced energy capacity, improved thermal stability, and a longer, more reliable performance curve suitable for various operating environments.

The solution is currently available globally, conforming to European standards, while versions compliant with US and Chinese standards are set to be released in 2026. Building on the success of its previous Li-ion technology, Kalmar’s Gen 2 battery has been engineered to meet the increasing demands of customers for safer, more efficient, and sustainable cargo-handling solutions.

This advanced battery features cutting-edge cell chemistry that extends its lifecycle. With a higher energy throughput compared to the prior generation, customers can expect consistent and dependable performance over time. This translates to lower battery replacement costs and simplified shift planning, ultimately contributing to a reduced total cost of ownership.

Kalmar’s Gen 2 solution significantly enhances battery capacity, allowing electric reachstackers to operate for up to 10 hours in heavy-duty applications. This improvement offers greater flexibility and uptime in challenging terminal environments. Furthermore, the Gen 2 battery has enhanced thermal resilience, ensuring operational safety and stability, particularly in high-temperature conditions.

Peter Berndtson, Vice President of the Counterbalanced Product Line at Kalmar, stated, “Our second-generation battery represents a significant advancement in supporting our customers’ transition to fully electric fleets without sacrificing performance. The improved safety, longer lifespan, and extended operating times provide our customers with greater predictability and peace of mind in managing their operations.”

Kalmar remains at the forefront of developing innovative, eco-efficient solutions within the material handling industry, aiding customers in achieving their electrification and sustainability objectives.
