Last month, we asked our audience which cybersecurity framework specifically protects electric grid systems. The most popular response was **CIP Standards**, receiving 50% of the votes. In second place, **ISO 27001** garnered 42%, while both **GDPR** and the **NIST Privacy Framework** tied for last, each with 4%.

The correct answer is **CIP Standards**. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) framework is specifically designed to safeguard electric grid systems in North America. It applies to Bulk Electric System (BES) owners and operators and includes a set of mandatory cybersecurity standards aimed at securing the assets crucial for the reliable operation of the electric grid.
