JinkoSolar Achieves New Record with 33.84% Efficiency in Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell Technology

JinkoSolar has recently announced a significant breakthrough in the development of its N-type TOPCon-based perovskite tandem solar cell. This innovative cell has achieved an impressive conversion efficiency of 33.84%, as confirmed by independent testing conducted by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This new record surpasses JinkoSolar’s previous achievement of 33.24% and represents the 27th time the company has set a world record for efficiency and power output in photovoltaic (PV) products.

The record-setting perovskite tandem solar cell employs JinkoSolar’s N-type high-efficiency monocrystalline TOPCon solar cell as its base layer. This advancement is the result of significant improvements across several key technologies. Notable innovations include full-area passivated contact technology, perovskite interfacial defect passivation technology, and bulk defect passivation technology, all of which have contributed to enhancing the efficiency of this tandem cell.

This achievement breaks the conversion efficiency limit previously established for single-junction crystalline silicon cells and underscores the compatibility of TOPCon technology with next-generation perovskite/silicon tandem cells. This development opens new avenues for future advancements in the photovoltaic industry.
