On January 30th, a signing and unveiling ceremony was held for the JD Wuxi Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Base project. Wuxi’s Party Secretary, Du Xiaogang, delivered a speech and, alongside Mayor Jiang Feng, unveiled the “JD Wuxi Intelligent Robotics Industrial Base.” During the event, JD’s Industrial Development Department signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Wuxi High-tech Zone for the project, which plans a total investment of approximately 10 billion yuan.
The project aims to establish “two parks and one base, three centers,” which include a Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Park, an Intelligent Driving and High-end Equipment Industrial Park, and a Robotics Manufacturing Headquarters Base. This will provide high-level platforms for innovative start-ups, promote the implementation of JD’s ecological incubation projects, and create a closed loop for “transformation-production-application.” The headquarters base will focus on attracting leading industry players and unicorn companies to develop a high-scale manufacturing hub.
The project will also feature an Experience and Sales Center, a Public Technology Service Center, and a Research and Development Incubation Center, concentrating on product consumption, technological breakthroughs, and enterprise cultivation to facilitate a smooth “industry-university-research application” innovation system.
The first phase of the project is set to launch this year, leveraging Wuxi’s foundation in advanced manufacturing to connect with domestic AI innovation resources. It will focus on key areas such as robotics modeling, maintenance, purchasing, transportation, and international expansion, integrating industry resources across the entire supply chain to empower sector development.
At the event, JD’s Retail Robotics Division announced the JD Robotics Industry Ecosystem Empowerment Plan, which will invest over 10 billion yuan in resources over the next three years to help 100 brands achieve over 1 billion yuan in sales, aiming to integrate robots into a million terminal scenarios.
JD’s Industrial Development Department signed agreements with several initial intent-entering companies, including Qianxun Intelligent, Galaxy Water Drop, Shenzhou Taike, Blue Core Computing, and Big Frame Technology. These companies cover critical aspects of the industry chain, such as full-size humanoid robots, core components, AI algorithms, machine vision, smart chips, and testing certification, fostering technological collaboration and resource sharing to create a more innovative robotics industry hub.
Currently, JD Group has launched 14 projects in Wuxi, including the first national outlet store, the JD Wuxi Intelligent Supply Chain Industrial Park, the JD (Wuxi) Cross-border Industrial Complex, and JD’s pilot for unmanned logistics delivery, with a total investment of 14.35 billion yuan. These projects span various sectors, including modern logistics, e-commerce, smart cities, artificial intelligence, and financial services.
Last year, the JD Wolf Pack Robotics Global Intelligent Factory project was signed. This project aims to achieve full-process automation from core component production to robot assembly and software system integration, and once completed, it will become one of JD’s largest and most automated robotics production bases.
According to official information from Wuxi, the city has recently focused on the humanoid robotics sector and has implemented a three-year development plan and special policies for embodied intelligent robotics. High-level platforms such as the Tianqi Embodied Intelligent Robotics Industrial Data Collection and Training Center, the Provincial Humanoid Robotics Industry Measurement and Testing Center, and the Xigang Shanghai Robotics Agile Intelligence Research Institute have been established, gathering 115 key enterprises, including five listed companies and eleven national-level specialized and innovative enterprises.
