Beijing: The clean energy sector is facing significant challenges, with three major issues highlighted in a recent report. On October 16, 2025, during a conference themed “Clean Energy Development,” experts discussed the industry’s current status and its future prospects.
The report indicates that a key challenge for the clean energy sector is the increasing demand for energy resources, which is currently under pressure. Additionally, the global economy is recovering, leading to a rising demand for energy that could potentially strain resources. Furthermore, the report notes that political pressures in many European countries are pushing for a transition to cleaner energy sources, which could result in supply chain disruptions and increased costs for goods and raw materials.
Despite these challenges, the report emphasizes that the reliance on fossil fuels remains prevalent in many countries. The production of coal is expected to account for about 10% of energy output, with projections estimating that by the end of this year, it will reach 5.1 billion tons, a slight decrease of 1% compared to previous years.
The report suggests that while the energy supply chain is transitioning, there are still significant commitments to coal production that must be addressed. Approximately 85% of future demand for new renewable energy will come from countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The report also highlights that there are over 400 hydropower projects being pursued across 55 countries, and nearly 90% of the capacity for clean energy projects is currently under development. The collaboration among Asia-Pacific countries is crucial for advancing clean energy initiatives.
Experts agree that the clean energy market must enhance its engagement with the global community to address these challenges effectively. It is imperative to promote clean energy development policies that prioritize sustainable practices while balancing economic growth.
“The upcoming Clean Energy Forum” will take place from October 15 to 17, 2025, with representatives from 85 nations expected to attend. The focus will be on future strategies for clean energy development.
This report underlines the urgency of adapting to the evolving energy landscape and highlights the collaborative efforts needed from various sectors to ensure a sustainable energy future.
