JA Solar Technology made a notable appearance at the United Nations Climate Change Summit, marking the beginning of a new chapter in green energy with a target of 3.6 billion kilowatts. On September 30, 2025, during the summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a video speech announcing the ambitious goal of achieving a total installed capacity of wind and solar power that exceeds six times the capacity of 2020 by 2035, aiming for a total of 3.6 billion kilowatts. He emphasized three core principles: the need for unwavering confidence, a sense of responsibility in global green transformation, and the importance of deepening international cooperation in green technology and industry.

JA Solar’s President and Chief Sustainability Officer, Li Jing, was invited to participate in the summit, where he spoke at multiple high-level UN meetings. He shared practical experiences and achievements, highlighting how photovoltaic companies can actively contribute to combating climate change and providing industrial support for the summit’s policy directions.

In terms of green low-carbon transformation, JA Solar released its first Environmental Sustainability Report during the summit at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) meeting titled “Avoiding Emissions: Updated Guidelines and Industry Insights.” Concurrently, the company introduced its 4F environmental climate strategy, designed to be faster, stronger, fairer, and more sustainable. This strategy incorporates the latest global disclosure requirements and systematically addresses five core environmental issues: climate change, biodiversity, and circular economy. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of associated risks and opportunities, management practices, and target indicators, offering a clear path for JA Solar’s own green low-carbon transformation and serving as a reference for other global photovoltaic companies pursuing sustainable practices.

Regarding corporate responsibility, JA Solar shared its initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainable development capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises within its supply chain. By adhering to international standards such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP), JA Solar has established a responsible supply chain system covering supplier admission policies, risk identification and monitoring, corrective actions, and remediation measures. The company provides extensive support through training, audits, and necessary on-site guidance. Since 2025, JA Solar has provided ESG training for 425 suppliers. Additionally, the company is committed to respecting human rights and has implemented a systematic human rights due diligence mechanism, regularly conducting risk screening and assessments across its operations and supply chain, in line with the UN Global Compact and the core conventions of the International Labour Organization.

In the context of deepening cooperation, JA Solar participated in the “Empowering the Future” meeting at the UN headquarters, where it presented its collaborative efforts with 28 upstream and downstream photovoltaic supply chain companies to establish the Global Solar Supply Chain Sustainability Alliance (GSSA). The GSSA focuses on three key areas: just transition, human-centered approaches, and enhanced governance. The alliance aims to strengthen communication and cooperation with international organizations, reduce compliance costs across the supply chain, and promote sustainable development within the photovoltaic sector.

The United Nations Climate Change Summit, co-convened by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Brazilian President Lula, serves as an official intergovernmental meeting focusing on leaders’ updates and commitments regarding Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), building essential political consensus ahead of the COP30 climate conference at the end of the year. As a significant representative of the global photovoltaic industry, JA Solar remains aligned with global climate strategies. Moving forward, the company will leverage technological innovation and ESG practices to support China’s goal of 3.6 billion kilowatts of installed capacity while driving a collaborative transformation in the global photovoltaic industry, creating a synergy among policy, industry, and cooperation to provide robust industrial support for global carbon neutrality.
