About Us
Who We Are
The International Flow Battery Forum (IFBF®) stands as the premier event for the flow battery community. Our mission is to promote the latest advancements in the science, technology, and commercialization of flow batteries. Our conferences encompass a wide array of topics related to both research and commercial aspects of flow batteries.
Since 2010, the IFBF has successfully hosted eleven in-person conferences, each attracting over 200 attendees annually. The thirteenth conference took place in June 2024 in Scotland, with valuable support from Invinity Energy Systems and Flow Batteries Europe. Over the course of three days, participants engaged in talks, panel discussions, networking breaks, a poster session, a conference dinner, and a local site visit. The event facilitated discussions on the latest innovations, policy updates, and market challenges facing the flow battery sector. More than 300 business leaders, policymakers, developers, and researchers exchanged insights and forecasts regarding the dynamic world of energy storage and the pivotal role of flow batteries.
The next edition of the International Flow Battery Forum is scheduled for June 24-26, 2025, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Vienna, Austria, with support from CellCube and Flow Batteries Europe.

On March 13, 2024, it was reported that the German government reached an agreement in February regarding its Power Plant Strategy, which aims to establish state support mechanisms for newly constructed gas power plants. Nearly €44 billion in subsidies will be allocated to ensure sufficient electricity generation during periods of low solar and wind energy. -
Accelerating Europe’s Green Transition
On April 11, 2024, as the European elections approach, the FBE Manifesto outlines four key EU policy goals and highlights opportunities for a seamless transition to climate neutrality. The EU faces significant challenges in meeting its decarbonization targets set forth in the European Green Deal, with a particular emphasis on the importance of reliable energy storage solutions, especially long-duration energy storage (LDES).
