On April 22, 2025, the International Symposium on Green Energy and Advanced Materials Technology was successfully held in Beijing. This event was organized by China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd., University of Jodouka Ali Ben Jelloun in Morocco, and Xian University of Technology. In October 2024, China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd. collaborated with Jodouka University and Xian University of Technology to establish the Huadian (Morocco) Green Energy and Advanced Materials Engineering Technology Center and the China-Morocco Joint Laboratory for Green Energy and Advanced Materials. This marked the official launch of the first green energy engineering technology center in Africa.
The symposium, hosted by the Huadian Morocco Engineering Technology Center and the China-Morocco Joint Laboratory, brought together representatives from enterprises, universities, and research institutions from both China and Morocco. The discussions centered around the global carbon neutrality goals and the new wave of energy technology revolution, focusing on the advancement of green energy and advanced materials technology. Participants reached a broad consensus on enhancing international scientific and technological cooperation between China and Morocco, exploring new opportunities for international collaboration to support Africa’s energy transition.
Diao Peibin emphasized that as a critical component and development platform of China Huadian Engineering, the symposium represents a further deepening of energy technology cooperation between China and Morocco. He noted that this initiative will facilitate the implementation of Huadian Morocco Engineering Technology Center projects, aiding the establishment of China’s advantageous industries in Morocco and other African nations.
Jamila El Alami expressed that Morocco is pleased to collaborate with China in green energy and other fields, given China’s leading position in innovation and technology globally. She hopes that both countries will regularly hold high-level international scientific exchange seminars based on the Huadian Morocco Engineering Technology Center and the China-Morocco Joint Laboratory, fostering more technological cooperation projects and advancing bilateral scientific collaboration.
China Huadian Engineering is rapidly building a world-class technology innovation platform to support the green, low-carbon, high-quality development of energy and electricity, and to engage in comprehensive international energy cooperation. This symposium further highlights its “Going Global” strategy, utilizing the Huadian Morocco Engineering Technology Center and the China-Morocco Joint Laboratory to host high-level, international, and diverse technical discussion meetings. This initiative serves as a window for enterprises to cooperate on energy projects, high-end equipment, and engineering in Morocco and Africa, promoting high-quality development of Sino-African cooperation.
