Last week (April 7-13), the energy storage industry saw a significant rise in activity among its players. In terms of orders and achievements, Corin Electric secured a contract for a 38MWh energy storage project in the Maldives; Tesla reported an additional 10.4GWh of energy storage installations in Q1; Haier New Energy signed a procurement agreement worth 500 million yuan; Yiwei Lithium Energy entered into an 11GWh collaboration order; Guoxuan High-tech signed multiple energy storage projects totaling 444MWh; and Yuneng Mofang clinched a substantial order of over 2GWh for Japan.
In terms of investment and financing, Mingshan Environmental Energy is aiming to raise approximately 295 million yuan through a listing on the Beijing Stock Exchange to enhance its energy storage and recycling projects.
Recently, over 30 leading energy storage companies, including Southern Power, Haichen Energy, ZhiGuang Energy, and Envision Energy, unveiled new products. Among these releases, notable items include the 783Ah solid-state battery and large capacity energy storage systems of 6.25MWh and 8MWh+, setting new trends in the industry. Power conversion systems (PCS) are evolving to accommodate larger cells, with capabilities to support cells of 500Ah+, 600Ah+, and even 700Ah+.
Several important projects were also signed last week: the Anhui Shucheng 200MW/400MWh energy storage station, a 200MW/800MWh project by China Energy Construction, and the largest solar-storage generation project in Tibet was successfully grid-connected. Trina Solar partnered with Datong County in Qinghai to develop a 200MW/800MWh grid-side energy storage station, while the Huaneng Huashan shared energy storage project commenced construction with a capacity of 200MW/400MWh.
On the collaboration front, Pylon Technologies signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Suzhou Shengli New Energy to enhance the operation of commercial energy storage assets; CaiRi Energy and Macmi Electric established a strategic partnership; and Rongjie Energy partnered with LinYang Energy for joint ventures in energy storage, heavy-duty vehicle battery swapping, and marine power solutions.
In new product launches, Southern Power introduced the CENTERL ULTRA 6.25MWh liquid-cooled energy storage system featuring dual-cell adaptability (587Ah/783Ah) and an impressive temperature control system. Additionally, the CENTERLMAX 8.338MWh system has set a new industry record for energy density, providing a 167% increase compared to mainstream systems. The 783Ah solid-state battery boasts an energy density greater than 430Wh/L with a lifespan improvement of over 20%.
Haichen Energy also launched the ∞Cell 587Ah battery, which has a remarkable energy efficiency of 94.5% and exceeds 10,000 cycles. Meanwhile, Envision Energy showcased its 530Ah energy cell, designed for high efficiency and longevity, set to enter mass production by 2025.
In terms of orders and performance, Corin Electric signed a nearly 130 million yuan contract for the Maldives 38MWh energy storage system, while Tesla reported a 156.6% year-on-year increase in energy storage installations for Q1. Yiwei Lithium Energy secured additional orders totaling 61GWh for 2025, and Haier New Energy entered a procurement agreement aimed at integrating energy storage solutions across various scenarios.
On the international front, more than 20 A-share listed energy storage companies responded to the impact of the US “reciprocal tariffs,” with many indicating limited effects due to their minimal exposure to the US market. Additionally, Energy Vault from Switzerland signed a contract for over 30GWh of energy storage solutions in India, while Germany reported a cumulative installation of 15GWh of home solar storage systems, with a third installed last year.
The Australian Labor Party has pledged a 2.3 billion AUD subsidy for home battery storage if reelected, aimed at reducing initial costs significantly. Lastly, Copia Power secured $1.71 billion in financing for its 550MW solar and 2200MWh energy storage project in Arizona, further underscoring the momentum in the energy storage sector.
