Chaozhou Run A Taishan Wind Power Project Suffers Impact from “Platform Addition” with Resource Loss Exceeding Expectations

On October 8, 2025, at 20:46, the company Chaozhou Run A (000531) released an announcement regarding the recent impact of the strong typhoon “Platform Addition,” which has caused significant resource losses. The company reported that the Taishan Wind Power Project, which is under construction, has faced setbacks due to this event, but there have been no reported injuries among personnel.

Following the typhoon, an initial assessment revealed that the components and equipment at the Taishan Wind Power Plant, such as transformers, supports, and electrical bridges, have been damaged to varying degrees. Due to the geographical area having a larger surface area and the scale of the recovery work being extensive, the company is working to determine the exact extent of the damage. The current estimate suggests that the resource loss may exceed 10% for the financial year of 2024.

Since 1994, Chaozhou Run A has been a significant player in the energy sector, focusing on the development of renewable energy sources. The company has a diverse portfolio, including wind power, hydropower, and solar energy projects, with a projected revenue of 42.99 billion yuan for the year 2024.

The Taishan Wind Power Project is particularly notable, featuring a capacity of 500 MW and covering a total area of approximately 6,500 acres. This project is designed using a “wind-solar hybrid” model, which combines wind and solar energy generation. The project is expected to generate significant revenue, estimated at around 21.6 billion yuan.

Chaozhou Run A has also undertaken several other projects, including a 200 MW project initiated in 2019, and a 300 MW project launched in 2020. The company has reported investments of 1.32 billion yuan in the first phase and 1.43 billion yuan in the second phase of these projects, respectively.

As of February 2023, the company is in the advanced stages of connecting its projects to the grid, with plans to commence operations shortly. The recent typhoon has prompted the company to implement emergency measures to ensure that operations are not significantly disrupted.

Chaozhou Run A has emphasized its commitment to safety and has already begun the process of assessing and repairing affected areas to minimize the impact of the typhoon on its operations.
