Hyundai to Suspend Electric Vehicle Production Lines Again Due to Tariff Impact

Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company has announced plans to suspend part of its electric vehicle (EV) production lines due to declining overseas demand and the impact of new tariffs on imported vehicles in the United States. This decision will halt operations on the 12th production line of the Ulsan Plant from April 24 to 30, which primarily manufactures the Ioniq 5 and Kona electric models. This marks Hyundai’s second temporary production halt this year, following a five-day shutdown in February due to a global slowdown in EV demand.

The recent suspension highlights a significant drop in orders for electric vehicles in major export markets, notably in Europe, Canada, and the United States. As the market for electric vehicles continues to face challenges, Hyundai is adapting its production strategies accordingly.
