Hyundai Starts Solid-State Battery Production

12 Feb 2025
Hyundai is set to inaugurate its Dream battery pilot plant in Uiwang, South Korea, soon, with plans to present an electric prototype utilizing this new battery technology by the end of 2025. The company announced a €9 billion investment over the next decade to establish itself in the market with various technologies, including solid-state batteries. Motor1 highlighted that the Dream batteries will also be used in the Supernal eVTOL.

Colorado Tesla Dealership Vandalized

12 Feb 2025
A Colorado Tesla dealership was vandalized with “offensive” graffiti and broken glass in a recent incident, marking the third attack in just two weeks. The police reported that various vehicles and the Tesla building were targeted. Similar incidents were recorded on January 29 and February 2, although those were less severe. Reports of vandalism against Tesla vehicles have surfaced in Florida, Oregon, Canada, and Australia in recent months.

The Geopolitics of Lithium in 2025

12 Feb 2025
The new U.S. administration needs to reevaluate its lithium policy, particularly in relation to other nations, by focusing on the Western Hemisphere. The Lithium Triangle in South America is gaining attention from major global powers, while the United States has largely overlooked Latin America from a geopolitical standpoint. With Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, there may be increased interest in the region.

Battery Storage Powers the Super Bowl

12 Feb 2025
Many are unaware that the 2024 Super Bowl, held in Las Vegas, was powered entirely by renewable energy and long-term energy storage. A significant solar array project in the Mojave Desert, featuring a 200-megawatt solar plant and a 375-megawatt-hour battery storage system, fueled the event with its 600,000 solar panels.

The First All-Electric Ferrari Arrives This Autumn

11 Feb 2025
Ferrari is set to officially unveil its first all-electric car on October 9, 2025. While details remain scarce, leaked images suggest it will not be a two-seater supercar but rather a four-door GT similar to the Purosangue. Ferrari is expected to maintain a balanced lineup of internal combustion, hybrid, and electric models, with power figures potentially exceeding 1000 bhp.

Tomorrow’s Breakthroughs Through Polyintelligent Thinking

11 Feb 2025
A third, crucial type of intelligence—nature’s intelligence—is often overlooked in discussions. This integrated framework is already revolutionizing biotechnology. Polyintelligent thinking is enabling breakthroughs that no single form of intelligence could achieve alone, with broader applications beyond biomedicine.

New Technology to Address EV Battery Freezing Issues

11 Feb 2025
Most electric vehicle batteries utilize lithium-ion chemistry, which performs best at warm temperatures around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Below freezing, EV range can decrease by 10% to 20% or more. Researchers are developing an electrode material that expands as temperatures drop, helping to keep lithium-ions moving effectively.

The EV Managed Charging Dilemma

11 Feb 2025
Utilities and regulators acknowledge the potential of managed charging to shift EV charging to low-cost times and balance the grid. However, not all managed charging approaches are equal. Methods like screen scraping may seem convenient but are often unreliable and insecure. Several automakers have already taken action against companies using these methods.

Caselani Offers Kit to Convert Citroen AMI EV

08 Feb 2025
Italian coachbuilder Caselani has introduced a kit allowing the Citroen AMI EV to be transformed into a classic post-war H-Type van. The kit includes fiberglass body panels that replicate the vintage look and comes with all necessary installation hardware. The AMI’s 6kWh electric motor and 5.4 kWh battery offer a top speed of 28 mph and a range of 46 miles, making the $5,200 conversion kit a worthwhile investment for AMI owners.

Seamless EV Charging Technology Developed

08 Feb 2025
Researchers from the ChargeX Consortium have proposed a “seamless retry” mechanism to enhance EV charging experiences. This technology ensures that drivers can plug their EV into a DC fast charger, leave the vehicle, and return to find it fully charged, even if initial attempts faced errors.
