The 13th International Energy Storage Summit and Exhibition (ESIE 2025) kicked off successfully on April 10 at the Beijing Capital International Exhibition Center. This year’s summit brought together top global energy storage brands and leaders from government, industry, academia, and research to discuss the trends and challenges in energy storage development.
During the event, Huawei participated in high-level forums and technology discussions, sharing its latest technological solutions and practical applications. The company was also honored with several awards at the 9th International Energy Storage Innovation Competition.

With the ongoing push towards global carbon neutrality, a new era of photovoltaic storage technology is emerging, which is essential for the stability of modern power systems. At the summit, Zhang Guanghui, head of Huawei’s Digital Energy Smart Photovoltaic Storage Department for China, addressed the challenges still faced by the photovoltaic storage industry, including low usable capacity, poor constant power characteristics, high electricity costs, and significant safety concerns. In response, Huawei introduced its “Smart Photovoltaic Storage Generator” solution, which offers four key values: comprehensive safety architecture, all-scenario networking, full lifecycle economics, and complete digitalization. This solution aims to enhance the integration of photovoltaic generation with the power grid, ensuring reliable and stable continuous power supply.

Global Projects and Innovations

In Saudi Arabia, Huawei has helped develop the world’s largest photovoltaic storage microgrid project, “Saudi Red Sea 400MW Photovoltaic with 1.3GWh Storage,” achieving independent and stable energy networking to provide 100% renewable energy to millions of visitors in the Red Sea New City. In Tibet’s Ali region, Huawei, in collaboration with the Tibet Development and Investment Group, deployed a string-based networking energy storage system, creating the first innovative demonstration of grid-connected energy storage in an ultra-high-altitude, extremely low-temperature, and low-power grid environment.
Additionally, the energy storage project at the Golmud Green Development Multi-Energy Complementary Power Station in Qinghai successfully validated the performance of Huawei’s smart photovoltaic storage generator and its ability to work in synergy with various power sources in multi-machine parallel operations.

As carbon neutrality goals advance and renewable energy develops rapidly, several policies are encouraging networked energy storage development, establishing it as a key technology for supporting grid stability. At the technology forum, Yang Zhi, senior product manager for energy storage solutions at Huawei Digital Energy China, explained that Huawei has leveraged years of expertise in power electronics and grid-friendly technologies. They have introduced an innovative intelligent string-based networked energy storage technology system that ensures stability and reliability across all scenarios, conditions, and lifecycles.
This solution has undergone rigorous validation from modeling and simulation to empirical testing, demonstrating successful results in various large-scale projects, earning recognition from industry authorities and users alike. Huawei aims to steadily advance the application of intelligent string-based networked energy storage, supporting the new power system and accelerating the transition to renewable energy.

Additionally, Huawei received multiple accolades at the 9th International Energy Storage Innovation Competition, including the “2025 Energy Storage Application Innovation Model TOP10” for the “Tibet Kailuan Ali Gaze 30MW Photovoltaic (with Storage) Project.” Their intelligent string-based networked energy storage system also garnered recognition in the technical innovation categories, further showcasing their industry strength.

Driven by policies, business needs, and technological advancements, the integration of energy sources, grids, loads, and storage in industrial parks is maturing. The market for distributed photovoltaic networking and electricity pricing is set for significant reforms, while the costs of photovoltaic storage generation are entering a competitive era. Innovations in the integration of photovoltaic storage and networking technologies are establishing best practices for addressing energy challenges in industrial parks.
At the exhibition, Huawei showcased its integrated energy solutions for commercial use, attracting numerous professional visitors. The source side is shifting from pure photovoltaic to a combination of photovoltaic and storage, optimizing green energy consumption. The grid side offers superior power quality and reliability, while the load side utilizes “photovoltaic storage charging + network technology” to reduce the impact of excessive charging on the grid, enhancing overall returns. Huawei’s new wind-liquid intelligent cooling energy storage cabinet promises higher efficiency and increased lifecycle benefits, ensuring long-term sustainable energy use in industrial parks.
