On May 22, the first session of the 2025 Huawei China Digital Energy Innovation Summit successfully took place in Changzhou, Jiangsu. The summit, themed “Building High Quality Together, Winning High Value with Intelligence,” brought together industry partners, experts, and business leaders from across the country. The focus was on the integrated development path of source-grid-load-storage in industrial and commercial sectors, promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of parks through digital empowerment, and jointly fostering high-quality industrial development while achieving high value within the industry.

Focusing on High Quality and Building Consensus on Value

Tong Chunping, a Level Two Inspector from the Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission, highlighted in his address that Jiangsu is actively advancing energy structure adjustments with the “dual carbon” goals as a guiding principle. Significant achievements have been made in the green and low-carbon transformation of energy. The province will continue to promote technological innovation and firmly develop new energy productive forces. It aims to make low (zero) carbon park construction a key part of the new power system, transitioning from “source following load” to “integrated interaction of source, grid, load, and storage,” leading the way in integrating technological and industrial innovation.

Lei Guangyou, Vice President of Huawei Digital Energy, emphasized that safety and quality are fundamental to the sustainable development of the energy industry and are the top priorities for customers. Huawei Digital Energy is committed to a strategy centered on technological products, adhering to the principle of “quality first, winning by quality.” The company focuses on core products and scenarios, continuously innovating technology to drive high-quality development in the renewable energy sector. Currently, the renewable energy industry has entered a new phase of comprehensive marketization and high-quality development.

Cai Lingyu, Head of Huawei Digital Energy Strategy and Marketing, stated that the entire industry should adhere to long-term principles and promote high-quality development through technological innovation. Huawei has proposed five key value propositions: first, to build sustainable development capabilities that transcend industrial cycles; second, to develop reliable quality products that endure through product lifecycles; third, to cultivate continuous innovation capabilities based on fundamental technologies; fourth, to establish a four-dimensional security system that covers components and product autonomy to network and system security; and fifth, to create a service system that is omnipresent and generates value for customers.

Integrating Source, Grid, Load, and Storage for Low-Carbon Transformation in Parks

In an era of “low-carbon cities,” Huawei has integrated over 30 years of digital technology with innovation in power electronics to create a low-carbon city solution termed “1+4+X,” leveraging digital technology for urban low-carbon transformation. Cai Xu, Head of Huawei’s Business Development for Smart Photovoltaics, noted that Huawei’s integrated source-grid-load-storage solution achieves extreme safety and long-term benefits, empowering parks in their low-carbon transition. The source side shifts from pure photovoltaic to integrated photovoltaic-storage, enhancing the proportion of green electricity consumption, while the grid side ensures better power quality, higher reliability, and stronger load-carrying capacity, supporting high-quality electricity use across all scenarios. On the load side, the “photovoltaic-storage-charging + grid integration technology” minimizes the impact of megawatt supercharging on the grid, improving overall profitability. The first wind-liquid intelligent cooling energy storage cabinet offers higher efficiency and long-term reliability, increasing lifecycle earnings by over 10%. Additionally, a system-level active safety solution guarantees the long-term sustainable development of energy use in parks.

Huawei collaborates with partners to provide a “comprehensive energy/virtual power plant” management system for parks, utilizing cloud-edge-end architecture and AI technology to help investors and owners achieve visibility, management, and cost savings. In Changzhou, the Wucheng Benchmark Demonstration Park has adopted Huawei’s integrated source-grid-load-storage solution and comprehensive energy management platform, deploying 1.28MW of photovoltaic power and 2.15MWh of energy storage along with a full liquid-cooled supercharging setup. The park’s comprehensive energy management platform enables the precise matching of energy demands across the “source-grid-load-storage” chain, allowing participation in ancillary electricity services to enhance overall profitability.

Xia Wei, General Manager of Jiangsu Huadian Energy Sales Co., Ltd., stated that Huawei Digital Energy provides a complete solution for Wucheng Technology Park, which is expected to generate 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually. The synergy between photovoltaic and storage is projected to achieve nearly 100% self-consumption, with charging stations consuming around 800,000 kilowatt-hours per year, covering 40% of electricity needs with green power, and reducing carbon emissions by 40 tons. This has successfully alleviated carbon reduction pressure for the park, while also optimizing electricity costs, with a 10% increase in overall profitability through AI enhancements, thus lowering energy costs for the park.

At the conference, Huawei’s integrated source-grid-load-storage solution and the Wucheng Benchmark Demonstration Park were officially launched, achieving 100% consumption of green electricity, long-term profitability, and extreme safety, thereby supporting the high-quality green and low-carbon development of enterprises.

Benchmark Practices for Value Co-Creation

As a crucial component of transportation energy integration infrastructure, charging infrastructure plays a significant role in the national strategies for “new energy vehicles” and “new power systems.” In light of current opportunities, building high-quality charging infrastructure focused on ultra-fast and fast charging can provide better experiences for green travel. Huang Gang, General Manager of Changshu Luting Energy Service Co., Ltd., pointed out that the new energy vehicle industry is experiencing explosive growth, with market penetration and ownership rates continuously rising. It is predicted that charging demand will increase tenfold over the next decade. Huawei’s full liquid-cooled supercharging solution supports the “stacked photovoltaic-storage” model, combining green efficiency with economic benefits. He emphasized that Luting Energy, in deep collaboration with Huawei, integrates photovoltaic-storage and power electronic technologies. Under Huawei’s strong brand influence and effective operational support, the efficiency of charging stations has significantly improved, surpassing the local average by 195%. In the future, they will leverage Huawei’s powerful technology and computing capabilities to empower charging stations, utilizing big data analysis to find optimal matching models for electricity prices, charging volumes, photovoltaic installations, and storage capacities, flexibly deploying energy management systems to enhance overall profitability.

Zhai Baogen, Senior Vice President of Xiangjiang System Engineering Co., Ltd., noted that the national AI+ strategy is being continuously advanced, with a growing demand for independent innovation. Intelligent computing has become the main engine of industry development. Data center solutions are building the foundation of the digital world, empowering various sectors. For over a decade, Xiangjiang has collaborated with Huawei to create highly competitive products and solutions, successfully implementing benchmark projects like the Yangzhou Mobile Data Center and Zhangjiagang Agricultural Bank Data Center, continuously providing quality services to clients. Huawei Digital Energy combines its expertise in smart photovoltaics, charging networks, and data centers with Jiangsu’s robust industrial ecosystem, partnering with local entities to jointly contribute to the province’s dual carbon goals.

During the event, a cooperation ceremony for the integrated source-grid-load-storage project, a city-wide & heavy truck charging network cooperation ceremony, and a partnership for the UPS supply project at the Smart Manufacturing Big Data Industrial Park were held. This cooperation signifies a deepening of collaboration and resource integration among all parties to jointly promote industrial upgrades and achieve more efficient and sustainable value creation.
