On May 9, 2025, information from the National Intellectual Property Administration revealed that Huawei Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd. received a patent titled “Battery Pack and Energy Storage System with Electrolyte Drainage Function,” with the authorization announcement number CN222838939U, and the application date being January 2024. The patent abstract indicates that the application provides a battery pack with an electrolyte drainage function, which is part of an energy storage system. This battery pack consists of multiple battery cells and a base, where the base features a support surface for multiple battery cells. The design includes a first drainage groove that is recessed from the support surface, along with a through hole that connects to the first drainage groove, allowing liquid within the groove to be discharged.
Thanks to this innovative design, when electrolyte leaks from the battery cell, the accumulation of electrolyte at the bottom of the cell is minimized. This helps to lower the likelihood of electrolyte corrosion and the dissolution of the insulation film of the battery cells.
According to data from Tianyancha, Huawei Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2021 and located in Shenzhen, focuses on technology promotion and application services.
