Huabao New Energy recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the New Energy No. 1 Building in Shenzhen. This facility will serve as a comprehensive headquarters for research, manufacturing, and office space, enhancing Huabao New Energy’s ability to provide high-quality green electricity solutions for consumers across various scenarios. In an interview with China Securities Journal, Huabao New Energy’s Chairman and General Manager, Sun Zhongwei, emphasized that the demand for clean energy is experiencing explosive growth. He stated that the New Energy No. 1 Building will act as a central hub to translate the company’s commitment to deepening its engagement with green energy into core momentum that drives steady advancement and upgrades across the entire industry chain, ensuring safe and convenient green electricity reaches every aspect of life and production.

Expanding Green Electricity Solutions for Homes

Huabao New Energy was listed on the ChiNext board in September 2022, becoming the first stock in the portable energy storage sector. According to Sun Zhongwei, the company’s success in the portable and home energy storage markets is closely linked to its deep insights into market trends. Around 2010, outdoor culture surged in Europe and the United States, making recreational vehicles and camping popular lifestyle choices. However, off-grid power relied heavily on bulky fuel generators, which are noisy, polluting, and complex to operate. Recognizing this trend, Sun predicted, “If we can combine lithium batteries with solar panels to create a lightweight, silent, and plug-and-play storage device, it will be an essential need.” This insight led to the establishment of a new entrepreneurial path for Huabao New Energy.

In 2012, Huabao’s core brand, Jackery, was launched. By 2016, the company introduced its first lithium-ion portable energy storage product, creating a new category in outdoor power supplies. In 2018, Huabao New Energy released the magnetic XBC solar panel, evolving into a “solar-charging outdoor power supply,” allowing users to charge during the day and power devices at night, thus eliminating reliance on the grid. This product quickly captured the European and American markets, enabling everyday users to build micro-energy systems in the wilderness, vehicles, or homes. In 2024, based on the latest market assessments, Huabao New Energy announced an all-scenario home green electricity solution, which includes DIY small-scale systems and the aesthetically designed XBC curved solar tile system. These innovations open up new ways for households to utilize energy.

“A single photovoltaic or energy storage product cannot meet all household needs; we provide a complete closed-loop system for generating, storing, and using electricity,” stated Sun Zhongwei. Since its inception, Huabao New Energy has committed to its mission of “making green energy ubiquitous,” aiming to deliver affordable, portable, and reliable green energy solutions to users worldwide.

Creating a Low-Carbon Value Chain

Through continuous investment in green product research and the development of environmentally friendly production lines, Huabao New Energy has gradually built a full-chain low-carbon value chain, from internal manufacturing to the delivery of end products. The company collaborates with upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain to integrate low-carbon principles throughout the entire production process. Notably, Huabao has established the industry’s first zero-carbon laboratory, which operates entirely on green electricity through microgrids, and has initiated green power procurement actions that comply with international I-REC standards to reduce carbon emissions from purchased electricity. Additionally, Huabao plans to develop an innovative, green, and environmentally friendly zero-carbon industrial park to tackle technological bottlenecks in green energy and facilitate the application of zero-carbon outcomes. Sun Zhongwei shared that guided by long-term green goals, Huabao has formulated a mid- to long-term development plan for green factories, with 18 of its green energy products already certified for carbon footprint verification by international authorities. As of June 30, 2025, the solar panels sold by Huabao will have collectively reduced carbon emissions by 1.243 million tons for users worldwide, translating green concepts into tangible ecological value.

Building a Competitive Advantage

Looking ahead, Sun Zhongwei believes that the global consumer-level light storage market is in a phase of rapid growth. The portable energy storage sector is still in its early stages, with low market penetration but strong growth trends, making it an important growth engine in the consumer light storage field. The home energy storage sector is also at a critical development juncture, with global installations expected to enter a growth inflection point by 2025, projecting a compound annual growth rate close to 15% over the next three years, indicating long-term growth potential. He noted that as the market expands and competition intensifies, industry competition logic has shifted from simple price comparisons to a comprehensive competition involving “speed of technological iteration + precise targeting of consumer needs + efficiency across the entire value chain.”

As a leading global player in consumer-level photovoltaic energy storage, Huabao has established a differentiated competitive advantage in research and development capabilities, product offerings, and direct sales models. As of June 30 of this year, the company has accumulated 1,939 patents, including 661 in photovoltaic technology, which provide robust safety assurances for its products. Huabao has developed a diversified product matrix covering portable photovoltaic storage products, DIY balcony energy storage solutions, and rooftop photovoltaic tile systems. On the distribution front, its global network, comprising independent websites, third-party e-commerce platforms, and offline retail, spans over 50 countries and regions, with total sales approaching 6 million units. The M2C (Manufacturer to Consumer) model effectively connects users with production, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.
