Solid-state batteries have the potential to recharge electric vehicles much faster than traditional lithium-ion batteries. They can achieve a full charge in as little as 10 to 15 minutes under optimal conditions. Toyota’s advanced solid-state battery technology, for example, promises to charge from 10% to 80% in under 10 minutes, which is comparable to the time it takes to refuel a gasoline vehicle. This rapid charging capability is due to the higher energy density and improved ion movement enabled by the solid electrolyte in these batteries.
