- Fuel Efficiency: PHEVs offer increased efficiency when using their electric mode, with energy consumption ratings that can be as low as 2.0–2.5 Le/100 km when running on battery power. However, once the battery is depleted, they operate similarly to HEVs.
- Charging: PHEVs require manual charging from an external power source to achieve their full efficiency potential. This can be done using a 110V or 240V charger.
- Performance in City: PHEVs are more efficient in city driving if they are regularly charged and used within their electric range, often providing 15 to 40 miles of electric driving. However, if charging is inconsistent or if trips often exceed the electric range, efficiency benefits may be reduced.
