Hindustan Power Receives Order for 100 MW Solar Project with 200 MWh Energy Storage System

Hindustan Power has secured a contract from the state-owned SJVN to establish a 100 MW solar project integrated with a 200 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system. This inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project was won through a competitive bidding process, which included a successful e-reverse auction.

This initiative is part of a broader 1200 MW ISTS-connected solar photovoltaic power project that will include 600 MW/2400 MWh Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to be deployed across India. The 600 MW/2400 MWh configuration indicates that the energy storage can provide backup power for up to four hours, resulting in a total output capability of 2400 MW.

Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, stated, “By combining solar power with energy storage, we can effectively manage peak power demand and ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity, even when solar generation is low. I am confident that this project will contribute to creating a stronger and more reliable energy infrastructure for everyone.”

Hindustan Power is recognized as a leading integrated power generation firm in India, focusing on renewable and transitional energy sources.
