High-Speed Service Areas Prepare for Increased Electric Vehicle Demand: How to Respond?

High-Speed

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the demand for electric vehicle charging stations is expected to surge! How should we respond?

According to forecasts, during the festival period, the number of charging sessions is projected to reach high levels. This is largely due to the increased travel during the holiday, with many individuals opting for road trips.

As of September 30, 2025, the number of electric vehicle charging sessions is expected to significantly increase. For instance, on peak days, the national highway’s rapid charging stations are anticipated to handle around 6.2 million sessions, with private vehicles accounting for approximately 5.65 million sessions. This marks an increase in traffic and a higher rate of self-charging than in previous years.

Additionally, statistics indicate that new energy vehicles are expected to contribute around 1.25 million sessions on peak days, representing a 20% increase from the previous year and a 30% rise compared to the same time last year.

The National Electric Grid’s intelligent vehicle charging platform has projected that during the upcoming festival, the charging stations will be under considerable pressure to meet the demand. The focus will be on ensuring that all charging stations are fully operational to handle the increased load.

As part of the preparations, the electric vehicle charging network is expanding rapidly. By September 30 and October 1, significant increases in charging demand are expected, particularly between 10 AM and 9 PM, indicating a peak in usage.

To accommodate the surge in demand, the government is implementing measures to enhance the capacity and efficiency of charging stations across the country. This includes upgrading existing infrastructure and adding new charging points to meet the growing needs of electric vehicle users.

In urban areas, particularly in cities like Beijing, the electric vehicle charging network is being refined to ensure that residents have access to reliable charging options. Each station is expected to handle approximately 2,000 vehicle sessions daily, ensuring a consistent supply of electricity.

In addition to the expansion of charging stations, the government is also working on improving the fast-charging services available at these locations. This includes increasing the number of high-speed charging points and ensuring that they are adequately staffed to assist users during peak times.

As we look ahead to the Mid-Autumn Festival, it is crucial to ensure that the electric vehicle infrastructure is prepared to meet the rising demand for charging services. By implementing these strategies, we can ensure a smooth and efficient experience for all electric vehicle users during the holiday season.
