Height Limit Imposed on Distributed Solar Panels in Courtyards of Beijing’s Yanqing District

On May 8, 2025, the Yanqun District Development and Reform Commission in Beijing released the feedback results for the draft management measures regarding the construction of distributed photovoltaic (PV) power generation projects in the district. During the public consultation period, no comments or suggestions were received related to the draft proposal.

It is reported that on April 22, the district published a draft management regulation for distributed photovoltaic power generation projects. The document specifies that if the building has a sloped roof, the maximum height of the installed photovoltaic modules should not exceed 30 centimeters from the roof surface. For flat-roofed buildings, the height from the rooftop to the top of the photovoltaic panels must not exceed 1.5 meters, and if there is a parapet wall, it should not exceed the height of that wall, utilizing a concealed design. In the case of PV installations in courtyards, the height from the ground to the top of the panels must not exceed 2.2 meters. Details are as follows:

From April 22 to April 29, 2025, the Yanqun District Development and Reform Commission publicly solicited opinions on the draft management measures for distributed photovoltaic power generation projects on the government portal websites (Beijing Municipal Government and Yanqun District Government). No opinions or suggestions were received during this period. The commission expressed gratitude for the attention and support from all sectors of society.
