Haicheng Energy Storage Receives International Recognition and SBTi Approval

Recently, Haicheng Energy Storage made significant strides in the ESG sector, achieving a top management-level rating (B) in its inaugural assessment by CDP and successfully passing the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approval. This accomplishment positions Haicheng as one of the first energy storage companies in China to gain such recognition. Climate Governance and Carbon Management Acknowledged

The global ESG rating agency CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) recently released its latest corporate rating results. In its first evaluation, Haicheng Energy Storage received a B rating for its climate change efforts, achieving the highest management level. This result significantly surpasses the average ratings for companies worldwide and in Asia, indicating that Haicheng has met international leading standards in climate governance and carbon management.

CDP is one of the largest and most authoritative platforms for environmental information disclosure globally. It helps companies measure, disclose, manage, and share environmental information across various sectors, including climate change, forestry, and water security. Its ratings serve as a “gold standard” for assessing corporate sustainability and environmental transparency. A high CDP rating is an important indicator of a company’s environmental management capabilities and social responsibility.

The CDP rating system categorizes companies into four levels: Leadership (A/A-), Management (B/B-), Awareness (C/C-), and Disclosure (D/D-). Haicheng Energy Storage’s B rating demonstrates its effective management capabilities in climate change strategies, greenhouse gas emissions control, and environmental information disclosure, laying a solid foundation for future improvements.

First Energy Storage Company in China to Obtain SBTi Approval

Last month, Haicheng Energy Storage passed the expert review by the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), becoming the first lithium battery manufacturer in China’s energy storage battery industry to receive approval for its near-term targets. This breakthrough signifies the company’s solid commitment to addressing climate change and fulfilling its carbon reduction responsibilities.

The SBTi, initiated by CDP, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), aims to encourage companies to set science-based emission reduction targets to help achieve the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Currently, only 7,469 companies globally have passed the target review out of 10,299 applications.
