Guangxi: The Industrial Company has committed to using more than 50% of self-generated energy and plans to connect to the grid with 6MW capacity after May 1, 2025.
On April 16, 2025, the Guangxi Energy Bureau released the Implementation Plan for the Management of Distributed Energy Generation, which outlines the management framework for distributed energy projects. This plan aims to support the integration of self-generated and self-consumed energy systems.
According to the guidelines, the implementation of distributed energy generation will involve three main modes: self-consumption, self-consumption with surplus power fed back to the grid, and pure grid-connected generation. The primary focus will be on natural person users and non-natural person users, who can choose between the various operational modes available.
It is estimated that the energy produced through self-consumption will not be less than 50% of the total energy generated, continuing a trend observed over the past three years where self-consumed energy has consistently accounted for more than 50% of total output. This indicates a strong shift towards self-generated energy models.
Large-scale industrial companies are also expected to adopt self-consumption energy generation modes, leveraging the growing energy market. The Implementation Plan for the Management of Distributed Energy Generation ensures that new policies are aligned with existing projects.
As of May 1, 2025, significant developments will occur for major industrial companies transitioning to distributed energy generation, with an expected increase in energy generation capacity. These companies are encouraged to report back on their self-consumed energy generation and seek registrations for distributed energy projects.
Following assessments, companies engaged in distributed energy generation will also be required to comply with new regulations aimed at improving management practices.
From May 1, 2025, major industrial companies will have to adapt to the new energy generation landscape, ensuring that their energy consumption aligns with regulatory expectations. The energy management strategies will be crucial for maintaining compliance and optimizing energy use moving forward.
