Guangdong: Progress on the Promotion of Distributed Energy Access Network

On May 26, the Guangdong Provincial Energy Bureau issued a notice regarding the advancement of the “Ten Thousand Households Energy Distribution Action”.
It has been confirmed that power grid companies are to enhance the upgrade of the distributed energy access network. The focus will be on 57 counties (cities) and 5 key areas, with an aim to further improve the distributed energy access network and simplify operational processes to provide “one-stop” service delivery. Plans for the upgrades will be announced by the end of July 2025 for the areas involved.
The Guangdong Provincial Energy Bureau has emphasized the importance of promoting distributed energy access networks. Various local levels are expected to enhance energy management and distribution objectives. Guangdong’s power grid has already started incorporating energy supply from various enterprises.
Currently, the National Energy Administration has released a notice on the promotion of the “Ten Thousand Households Energy Distribution Action”, highlighting the need for each local energy management department to strengthen their frameworks and collaborate effectively to implement energy plans from 2024 to 2030.
Furthermore, power grid companies are required to strictly implement safety production regulations and standards. They must also ensure that local energy projects are conducted in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, while also promoting social responsibility.
Guangdong’s energy bureau is committed to advancing the “micro-grid” projects, which include the development of renewable energy sources and the promotion of energy efficiency.
On May 22, 2025, the Guangdong Provincial Energy Bureau reported that the social electricity consumption in the province reached 323.5 billion kWh, an increase of 6.83% compared to previous years. The first phase of the distributed energy access project is set to commence by January 2025, with plans to continue expanding energy access across the province.
In summary, Guangdong aims to enhance the distributed energy access network, with ongoing support for enterprises involved in this initiative. This effort is expected to contribute significantly to the province’s energy management and sustainability goals.
