“Green Energy Abundance”! Multidimensional development sees a surge in green energy deployments, marking a significant achievement.
On April 26, 2025, the National Energy Administration announced that by 2025, the country will accelerate its transition to renewable energy sources. As of March 2025, the installed capacity of wind power surpassed that of thermal power generation.
In the first quarter of 2025, the total capacity of newly installed wind power reached 74.33 million kilowatts, resulting in a capacity ratio of 86.7%. By the end of March, the total installed capacity of wind power had reached 1.48 billion kilowatts, exceeding that of thermal power generation.
According to the China Electricity Council, currently, the country’s energy structure adjustment remains stable, with wind power capacity significantly outpacing thermal power. It is noted that the energy system has shifted from being primarily thermal-based to a more diversified structure.
In terms of electricity generation, during the first quarter, wind power generation reached 536.4 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 22.5% of total electricity consumption, which is an increase of 4.3 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.
The latest data from the National Energy Administration indicates that in the first quarter of 2025, the development of renewable energy in the country has remained stable, with a rapid increase in green energy production.
The data shows that during the first quarter, the income from carbon-related energy businesses grew by 13.6%, outpacing the national average growth rate of 11.5 percentage points. Additionally, the income from new green energy companies saw a growth of 19.3%, which is an increase of 12.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, green energy capacity is also progressing further. In the first quarter, the development of hydropower, solar energy, wind power, and bioenergy collectively contributed to a growth rate of 20.3 percentage points, compared to a lesser growth of 31.7% for thermal power generation.
Moreover, the promotion of energy conservation methods has continued to gain momentum. In the first quarter, the income from environmental protection services increased by 11%. Among these, the income from green technology services rose by 16.5%, indicating a rapid growth.
Energy conservation and environmental protection measures are being widely promoted. In the first quarter, the income from energy conservation-related services dropped by 2.4%, while the industrial production capacity showed a steady decline. Green energy companies reported a 9.4% decrease in income from electricity generation.
