Significant Upgrade in Energy Storage System Performance! Goldwind Technology Showcases Multiple Solutions at EES Europe 2025

From May 7 to 9, 2025, the largest battery and energy storage exhibition in Europe, EES Europe 2025, was held at the Munich Exhibition Center in Germany. The event featured over 800 international companies, covering the entire industry chain of battery technology, energy storage systems, grid integration, and commercial applications. Goldwind Technology‘s wholly-owned subsidiary, Beijing Goldwind Zero Carbon Energy Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Goldwind Zero Carbon”), presented several core products and solutions at the exhibition.

According to the European Energy Storage Market Monitoring Report (EMMES), Europe deployed 11.9 GW/21.1 GWh of energy storage systems in 2024, marking a significant 35% increase in capacity compared to 2023. This strong momentum indicates the rapid expansion of the European energy storage market. With the considerable increase in storage capacity, some independent energy storage stations in Europe have surpassed the GW level, leading to higher demands for the availability and cost of energy storage systems. In response to this backdrop, Goldwind Zero Carbon launched new products at the exhibition that are tailored to meet the latest market needs.

On the AC side, Goldwind Zero Carbon unveiled the GoldConv A10000Pro-MV energy storage system. This product boasts a mid-voltage capacity of 10 MVA and is compatible with battery cells ranging from 280 to 730 Ah. Compared to a 5 MVA transformer, this system can effectively reduce the MV BOS costs by 10% to 15% while achieving the same functionality. With its application of string-type PCS, it can reduce downtime losses by up to 58% compared to centralized PCS systems. Additionally, the product features grid-forming capabilities, making it suitable for weak grid environments with a short-circuit ratio (SCR) of 1, effectively meeting the support needs of various European national grids.

On the DC side, Goldwind Zero Carbon introduced the GoldStack 2.0 Pro liquid-cooled energy storage system, which focuses on the practical execution and revenue optimization for non-standard projects, offering enhanced customization capabilities. The product’s lifespan has been extended to 25 years, facilitating customers’ calculations of overall project returns. Moreover, it utilizes large-capacity 628 Ah battery cells, which significantly reduce failure rates compared to similar storage products that use 314 Ah cells, ensuring system availability and profitability. In terms of footprint and cost control, the new generation of products has seen a notable optimization of 30% to 40%. The 2H energy storage system operates with zero parallel battery connections, safeguarding long-duration energy storage battery cycle performance.

Furthermore, the exhibition showcased the GoldBlock L700 series from Goldwind Zero Carbon, which addresses both AC and DC side requirements. This product features a unique All-in-one modular compartment design, allowing flexible configurations of 2-12H energy storage systems. It can be customized based on the environmental needs of different regions, creating stable and predictable long-term returns for customers.

Goldwind Zero Carbon adheres to its product and service strategy of being Accurate, Firm, Stable, and Adequate, continuously developing solutions that cater to various regions and demands. During the exhibition, Shen Tong, head of overseas energy storage business and deputy director of the international business department, shared insights into the European market’s demand for flexible resources. He pointed out that the penetration rate of renewable energy in the European electricity market has reached a high level, creating significant stability demands on the grid. Energy storage is currently the most commercially viable technology that is friendly to the grid, as it supports large-scale renewable energy integration, reduces system costs, and effectively addresses risks from electricity price fluctuations.

On the product front, Goldwind Zero Carbon controls cost details through production planning with a key goal of shortening production cycles. The company optimizes designs, minimizes manufacturing risks, enhances assembly convenience, and improves assembly efficiency, truly realizing the benefits of products that are efficient, replicable, and future-oriented. With advanced product performance, mature grid connection experience, and local service capabilities, Goldwind provides comprehensive support for energy storage projects, including technical, financing, and operational maintenance assistance.

For instance, in the German market, Goldwind’s AC-side energy storage products have passed three types of grid connection certifications – VDE4110, 4120, and 4130. This compliance meets market standards. The company has also established a localized professional service team in Germany to ensure robust support for project grid connection operations and value realization.

During the IBR Technology Innovation Forum, Ren Jianfeng, director of overseas energy storage solutions at Goldwind Zero Carbon, shared insights on Goldwind’s grid-forming solutions. He highlighted that the power system currently faces multiple challenges, including weak grid conditions and high-frequency fluctuations. Goldwind’s independently developed affine non-linear algorithm for grid control has been validated through simulations to maintain excellent grid stability even in environments with SCR=1.2 and to effectively handle SCR changes between 1 and 10, providing high adaptability, strong support, and precise rapid compensation solutions for power systems.

In terms of local service capabilities, Goldwind has built a global service network covering six continents, with seven service solution factories, six spare parts testing centers, and multi-level spare parts warehouses. This network enables 24/7 remote technical support, critical responses within two hours, and next-day on-site services. During the construction period of energy storage projects, Goldwind offers expert-level services that encompass installation supervision, commissioning, and grid connection support. Throughout the project lifecycle, Goldwind’s highly reliable service system ensures system availability of over 99%, with round-trip efficiency (RTE) above 88%. By the end of the project lifecycle, the AC-side usable capacity remains above 65%.

At the exhibition, Mark Lohmann, chief certifying officer from the authoritative certification body SGS, awarded Goldwind’s energy storage products with the NFPA68 and NFPA69 explosion-proof certification certificates. He stated, “We firmly believe that energy storage systems will leverage their technological advantages across multiple scenarios on the source-grid-load side. In the future, SGS will deepen its innovative collaboration with Goldwind to provide more high-quality solutions for the industry, jointly advancing the intelligent and high-quality development of a new generation of energy storage products.”

Pan Yantian, vice president of Goldwind Technology and chairman of Goldwind Zero Carbon, emphasized that energy storage is a vital component of the renewable energy ecosystem. As the global energy structure undergoes rapid transformation, energy storage will play a crucial role as a flexible resource. Goldwind is actively promoting innovation in AC-side products and standardization in DC-side products to provide global customers with solutions that balance technical advancement and commercial viability.

EES Europe 2025 is not only a showcase for advanced products in the global energy storage industry but also a deep communication platform for global green energy partners. Goldwind Technology will continue to engage in international exchanges, participate in international collaborations, push technological boundaries, and deepen its understanding of market demands, contributing to significant progress in the energy storage industry.
