Germany’s Balcony Power Plants Double in a Year to 1 Million
================================================================
According to the German Solar Association (BSW), the number of “balcony power plants” in Germany has doubled over the past year, reaching nearly 1 million. BSW chief executive Carsten König stated, “We are working on the assumption that the millionth plug-in solar plant is in operation, as late registrations are still coming in to the Federal Network Agency.”
The term “balcony power plants” refers to small solar panels that are frequently, though not exclusively, installed on balconies or terraces. These installations have gained popularity as a convenient way for individuals to generate their own electricity, contributing to Germany’s renewable energy goals.
