Fronius Launches Reserva Battery Storage System

Austrian inverter manufacturer Fronius has introduced its first battery storage system, named Fronius Reserva. This innovative system utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and offers capacities ranging from 6.3 kWh to 15.8 kWh, achievable with two to five modules. Additionally, users can connect up to four battery towers in parallel, resulting in a maximum storage capacity of 63 kWh.

This launch fills a crucial gap in Fronius’s product lineup, positioning the company as a comprehensive provider of photovoltaic systems. According to Fronius, “The Fronius Reserva is a high-voltage battery with DC coupling, ensuring nearly loss-free charging and discharging performance.” The storage modules can be easily stacked like building blocks, featuring a plug-and-play connection that eliminates the need for complex cabling.

The new battery storage system is ideally suited for integration with Fronius’s hybrid inverters, Fronius GEN24 Plus and Fronius Verto Plus, allowing for seamless incorporation into existing photovoltaic setups. Users can visualize system performance through the well-established Solar.web app, which requires no additional software. The status display of the Fronius Reserva indicates the current charge level and alerts users to any issues.

Harald Scherleitner, Chief Sales Officer of Fronius, remarked on the system’s launch, stating, “We are now offering solar power as a complete package, supplying everything from a single source. This approach provides several advantages: all products are perfectly matched, energy management can be handled through a single app, and it simplifies life for our customers.”

The Fronius Reserva also features backup power and black start capabilities, allowing it to continue charging and discharging during power outages. The battery’s cells, made from cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate, are known for their durability, low maintenance, safety, and lightweight design, along with excellent charging and discharging efficiency.

Furthermore, the Fronius Reserva boasts a sleek design, enabling it to fit into narrow cellar corridors and small garages. It operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius and has an IP65 safety rating, ensuring optimal protection against external elements. This makes the Fronius Reserva suitable for both indoor use and protected outdoor environments.
