FPX Nickel Completes Production Run of Battery-Grade Nickel Sulphate to Support Discussions with Prospective EV Battery Supply Chain Partners
June 17, 2025
FPX Nickel Corp. (TSX-V: FPX, OTCQB: FPOCF) is excited to announce the successful production of additional battery-grade nickel sulphate from its Baptiste Nickel Project. This latest production run builds on prior testing campaigns, resulting in the generation of larger quantities of nickel sulphate crystals. The produced nickel sulphate samples adhere to stringent specifications for battery applications and will be distributed to selected prospective downstream partners, including producers of precursor cathode active materials (pCAM), battery manufacturers, and automakers seeking reliable supply, traceable sourcing, and low-carbon production.
“The production of high-purity nickel sulphate further positions us to engage in strategic discussions with potential downstream partners across the global electric vehicle supply chain,” stated Martin Turenne, FPX Nickel’s President and Director. “This milestone showcases the strategic versatility of the Baptiste awaruite concentrate and the technical maturity of the awaruite refining process.”
### Overview
As outlined in the Company’s news release dated October 15, 2024, FPX has successfully completed a pilot-scale refining test program aimed at enhancing the technical maturity of converting the Baptiste awaruite concentrate into nickel sulphate. This program included continuous pilot-scale leaching to produce a low-impurity leach solution. A portion of this leach solution was then further processed through purification and crystallization to yield nickel sulphate crystals, demonstrating the technical feasibility of the purification process. The remainder of the leach solution will be retained for future tests, including ongoing pilot-scale processing in the purification and crystallization areas, ensuring alignment with the requirements established in collaboration with FPX Nickel’s current and prospective downstream partners.
FPX has recently re-engaged Sherritt Technologies Ltd. to conduct another nickel sulphate production run, expanding on Sherritt’s prior success with the pilot-scale refining test program. During this current testing campaign, part of the remaining leach solution has been processed to produce larger quantities of nickel sulphate crystals. Consistent with earlier campaigns, the quality of the produced nickel sulphate meets the rigorous target specifications for battery applications, as summarized in Table 1. To further advance the qualification of the produced material, the nickel sulphate samples will be sent to prospective downstream partners to confirm their quality and suitability for battery manufacturing.

Testwork was supervised, reviewed, and verified by Kyle D. Marte, P.Eng., FPX Nickel’s Director of Metallurgy, who is a “Qualified Person” as defined by NI 43-101.### About the Baptiste Nickel ProjectThe Baptiste Nickel Project represents a large-scale greenfield discovery of nickel mineralization in the form of a sulphur-free nickel-iron mineral known as awaruite (Ni3Fe), hosted within an ultramafic/ophiolite complex. The lack of sulphur, combined with the potential to connect to the BC Hydro grid, positions Baptiste as one of the lowest carbon-intensive nickel producers globally, capable of delivering a high-grade product without the need for intermediate smelting or complex refining. The Baptiste mineral claims cover an area of 453 km², located west of Middle River and north of Trembleur Lake in central British Columbia. Besides the Baptiste Deposit, awaruite mineralization has been confirmed through drilling at various target areas within the same claims package, particularly at the Van Target, situated 6 km north of the Baptiste Deposit. Since 2010, approximately US$55 million has been invested in the exploration and development of Baptiste. FPX has conducted mineral exploration activities subject to agreements with First Nations and keyoh holders.### About FPX Nickel Corp.FPX Nickel Corp. is dedicated to the exploration and development of the Decar Nickel District, located in central British Columbia, as well as other occurrences of the distinctive naturally occurring nickel-iron alloy mineralization known as awaruite.
