According to a report from Blue Whale Automotive on February 4, 2026, Lin Mi, the former CEO of Yundu Automobile, has quietly embarked on a new entrepreneurial venture focused on the development of AI painting robots in the industrial intelligent equipment sector.

Lin’s new startup aims to deeply integrate AI technology with industrial robotics specifically for painting applications. The primary focus of their products will be in the automotive aftermarket sector, with plans to expand into various fields such as drones, high-speed rail, and construction machinery. The core members of the project development team predominantly hail from prestigious institutions like Zhejiang University, with over 30% of the team holding doctoral degrees.

Lin Mi has a notable background, having previously worked at companies including TCL, BYD (Denza), and Celgard, and he was an early participant in the development of BYD’s electric vehicles. He has served as the CEO of Yundu Automobile on two occasions, returning to the role in May 2020, where he oversaw the company’s overall strategy and daily operations.

This new venture marks Lin’s transition from complete vehicle manufacturing to the industrial robotics sector, addressing the pressing need for smart upgrades in the automotive aftermarket. By merging vehicle manufacturing processes with AI robotic technology, the project aims to enhance the intelligence of the painting phase, thereby establishing a competitive edge.

As of now, the core research and development work is nearly complete, with plans to enter the customer delivery phase after the Spring Festival. However, Lin and his new startup have not yet disclosed the brand name, and further information regarding technical specifications and industry collaboration plans will be gradually revealed as the product rollout progresses.
