All Hybrid Vehicles! Five New Models Launched
With prices ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 RMB, there are new options available today. Let’s take a closer look at five new models.
Geely Galaxy Star 8
Starting Price: 115,800 RMB
The entire Galaxy Star 8 lineup features plug-in hybrid technology. The entry-level version offers an all-electric range of only 60 kilometers, but it comes at a lower price point, so it’s a trade-off. The version with a 130-kilometer electric range is priced at 135,800 RMB. As a mid-sized vehicle, we will focus on the entry-level Star 8. It boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.4 seconds, a warranty of 6 years or 150,000 kilometers, and a wheelbase of 2,928 mm. The fuel tank capacity is 55 liters. Apart from the two higher-end versions equipped with turbocharged engines, the other versions feature naturally aspirated engines, with the latter providing 112 horsepower and the turbo version reaching 163 horsepower. The entry-level and second-lowest configurations use batteries from Zhongxin Innovation, while the other versions rely on batteries from CATL. In terms of chassis, it has a front MacPherson setup and a multi-link rear. On the passive safety front, the airbag configuration is consistent across all models, which is commendable. For active safety, the ‘Qianli Haohan’ version starts at 121,800 RMB, offering good value for the price. However, the comfort and safety features are quite basic; the entry-level model only provides power height adjustment for the driver’s seat, while the passenger seat lacks this feature. Nonetheless, both front seats are heated and ventilated.
Deep Blue S09
Starting Price: 239,900 RMB
The Deep Blue S09 is the flagship six-seat SUV launched in 2025, featuring a core selling point with the same Kunlun range extender as Avita, significantly improving fuel consumption and noise control. The entire lineup uses CATL’s special battery for hybrid models. The entry-level S09 includes ADS SE assisted driving, but the configuration is somewhat basic. In my opinion, the best version to buy would be the advanced driving-assist version priced at 279,900 RMB or the top configuration. As a family-oriented six-seat SUV, the configuration and active safety are crucial. From my test drive experience, the chassis performance of the Deep Blue S09 is commendable, though the luxury details could be enhanced. It’s advisable to consider color schemes similar to BYD’s dual-tone offerings to elevate the premium feel.
Avita 12 Renewed Version
Starting Price: 269,900 RMB (Rights-After Price: 259,900 RMB)
The Avita 12 is priced reasonably considering its previous price point of 300,000 RMB. Now, at over 250,000 RMB, it aligns well with its brand positioning. The design, interior materials, and space layout meet the standards of a domestic luxury vehicle. If your budget is around 270,000 RMB, the Avita 12 is certainly a viable option. The model now offers a range extender version with an all-electric range of about 200 kilometers, which significantly reduces operational costs, requiring only 92-octane gasoline. Standard features include 25 British Bang & Olufsen speakers, Huawei’s QianKun assisted driving system, and well-equipped seating. The front seats are practically dual zero-gravity seats, complete with heating, ventilation, and massage features, plus a speaker integrated into the driver’s headrest. If you prefer sedans, the Avita 12 is definitely worth considering.
Lynk & Co 900
Starting Price: 309,900 RMB (Rights-After Price: 289,900 RMB)
The Lynk & Co 900 is the flagship six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV for 2025, featuring an all-electric range of about 200 kilometers and equipped with a 3DHT transmission. The electric motor produces 530 horsepower, achieving 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and has a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. The entire Lynk & Co 900 lineup comes standard with CDC, and the second-lowest trim includes air suspension. The 2.0T U version is equipped with the Thor chip, boasting 700 TOPS of computing power and integrating laser radar in all models. In terms of seating, the entry-level Lynk & Co 900 offers height adjustments for both driver and passenger seats, with the passenger seat also featuring leg support adjustment. Unlike many six-seat SUVs, the Lynk & Co 900 provides comprehensive heating, ventilation, and massage options.
Li Auto L6
Starting Price: 249,800 RMB
The 2025 version of the Li Auto L6 comes standard with laser radar across all models. The entry-level L6 is equipped with a Horizon 128 TOPS computing power assisted driving chip and Hesai Technology’s laser radar. Although the price remains unchanged, the addition of features at the same price point has become a common strategy for many car manufacturers. The Li Auto L6’s advantages include its distinctive exterior design; even in its sixth generation, the visual impact of a Li vehicle remains significant. Though the interior space is not particularly expansive, the headroom is noticeably more generous compared to other SUVs in its class. The Li Auto L6 is also a range-extended model, and its monthly sales are impressive. The appeal of uniquely designed SUVs may not resonate with everyone, but the Li Auto L6 adopts a more utilitarian design that is less likely to face rejection. While the earlier Li ONE’s aesthetics may not have been as appealing, the brand’s evolving design language has significantly improved over time. It’s fair to say that while Li vehicles may not be considered stylish, they lack distinctive character, unlike more unique offerings like MEGA.
