On January 25, 2026, FAW-Volkswagen announced its comprehensive product plan for the year during its annual press conference. The company revealed that it will launch a total of 13 new models throughout the year, consisting of 7 electric vehicles and 6 gasoline-powered vehicles. Notably, this marks the first time that the proportion of electric vehicles will exceed that of gasoline vehicles.
The new product lineup spans across three major brands: Volkswagen, Audi, and Jetta. The Volkswagen brand will introduce gasoline models such as the Sagitar S and the all-new Tarok, along with hybrid models like the Magotan PHEV and the fully electric ID.AURA. Audi will present the domestically produced all-new A6L and the electric A6L e-tron, as well as imported models such as the SQ8 and the all-new Q9. Meanwhile, the Jetta brand is set to launch the VS8 Black Warrior Edition and its first electric vehicle, the J01, to address the gap in its electric vehicle offerings.
Technologically, over the next three years, all gasoline models from the Volkswagen and Jetta brands will transition to a new CEA electronic architecture, enhancing the intelligent user experience. Additionally, FAW-Volkswagen will develop its own hybrid engines, the TQ200 transmission, and three electric technologies, reducing the new vehicle development cycle to 24 months.
In 2025, FAW-Volkswagen achieved a total vehicle sales figure of 1.5871 million, with its Volkswagen brand selling 902,000 units, Audi 566,000, and Jetta 118,000. This success led to the company securing the top spot in both joint venture vehicle sales and gasoline vehicle sales. According to Vice General Manager Wang Shengli, the company aims for electric vehicles to account for approximately 60% of its sales by 2030 as part of its strategy centered on “oil and electricity working together intelligently.” Wang also revealed that starting from the second half of 2026, FAW-Volkswagen will intensively launch electric models, maintaining a pace of 3 to 4 new models every six months and 6 to 8 models annually.
This new strategic layout signifies that the company’s transformation toward electrification is entering an accelerated phase.
