Spanish company Fator has introduced a new rivet and riveting tool designed for the installation of solar panels on trackers. The company claims that these innovations not only have anti-corrosion properties but also facilitate faster installation compared to traditional methods.
Fator, known for its expertise in industrial fasteners, has developed the Steptail rivet specifically for photovoltaic (PV) trackers. According to a company spokesperson, “Traditionally, attaching solar panels to trackers has involved using screws, washers, and nuts. While this method works, it presents challenges such as installation complexity, extended time requirements, and the potential for loosening due to vibrations and adverse weather conditions.”
The new rivet is designed for easy and rapid installation, featuring vibration resistance to ensure a secure connection even in high-wind environments. The aluminum rivet is resistant to corrosion and wear, promising a long lifespan even under harsh weather conditions.
To complement the Steptail rivet, Fator has created the ST64XL tool, which it describes as the fastest riveter available for this type of application. This tool is lightweight, ergonomic, and comes equipped with a durable battery and an electrical calibration system. Designed specifically for solar installations, the ST64XL is built to endure tough conditions and frequent use. Its modular design allows for easy access to internal components, simplifying maintenance and minimizing downtime.
Fator also offers free training at client locations, where experts guide installers on the correct usage of both Steptail rivets and the ST64XL tool.
